That night was like a nightmare. I mean, I became to realize that my dear brother who was supposed to be dead, was alive. And unlike I thought, he wasn't the good one.
And I became to realize what my name really meant. I belonged in to the world, where was Fighters and Sacrifices. In to the world, where two person shared same name. But nobody shared the name Loveless with me.
I think I grew up that night.
At that very night, I was walking on the street. I decided to walk through the park - what I shouldn't have done.
I was almost in the middle of the park, in darkness, when I raised my eyes and saw Soubi, my friend. I was just going to run to him when I saw another guy in the streetlight. I saw my brother, Seimei - though Seimei was dead. I froze in the position.
Soubi said something - I didn't hear what - to Seimei. He used his soft, emotionless voice. That voice that I hadn't heard a long time. I thought that he answered a question. Seimei... He hit Soubi, straight to the cheek. Soubi didn't even stir. He just stared Seimei, calmly. Then Seimei noticed Soubi's earrings. And hit again.
When he was hitting third time, I found some strength and took a step closer, yelling "Stop it, Seimei!" Seimei turned to look at me and I was in the loss of words. I stopped and tried to balance my breath. "Ah", Seimei said, "Ritsuka. Long time no seen." I stared at Seimei. "You... You should be dead!" He just gave a laugh at me.
After that he turned to Soubi and said: "Let's see what he has learned." While Seimei said that, he smiled coldly. It made me forecast bad. Soubi became a little stiff, but Seimei didn't seem to notice it. "I suppose it's an order." Soubi stated and looked straight to Seimei. "Yes. It is."
"This is a declaration of spell battle." Soubi said quietly, hand raised.
I stared at them for a while, then I said: "I accept." Soubi took us to the battle system and shot the first attack. Without thinking I yelled "Defense!" and Soubi's attack was defeated. I was just as surprised as Soubi and Seimei. Well, not exactly as Seimei. He just smiled ironically.
"Ultimate fire, destroy him!" That shocked me. What I knew Soubi, he didn't usually use so powerful and rare attacks. "Total defense!" Again, without thinking. Seimei seemed a little frustrated, I dunno why. And Soubi... I don't know, but for me he seemed like little desperate.
And I had had enough. "Mind destruction!" I yelled. Seimei gave me a laugh. "You stupid! Things like that won't work on us!" But after that he cried for pain when chains appeared on his wrists and neck. "What the..?" he started and saw Soubi on his knees, holding a chain on his neck. "Neither your mind or brain can work clearly!"
The pain was more than either of them could stand. That meant that I had win. We returned from the battle system. Seimei was very angry, he was full of rage. Soubi fell on his knees by Seimei's punch and I saw Seimei walking away. Soubi rose.
I turned to Soubi. "Just what was that?" I asked, feeling nothing. I was totally empty. And that emptiness hurt. "Ritsuka..."
"No! I don't wanna hear your excuses!" And I ran away - or I tried. Soubi caught my hand and pulled me into his arms. "No, Ritsuka..." he whispered. "Never let me see that again..." His voice was pained, frightened and quiet. "Never let me see your death again..."
"Huh?" I was surprised. Then I smiled and leaned against Soubi's stomach. "What an idiot." I felt Soubi smiling.
