"OH MY GOSH! DIPPER! GUESS WHAT!"
"Not right now, Mabel…"
Mabel cocked her head and looked at her brother. He was wearing an expression she did not often see. She knew that face he was making. "Hey, what's wrong Dippingsauce?" she asked.
"Nothing…" he sighed.
"Aw, come on! You can tell me!"
"No I can't."
"Yes you can!" She put on Grunkle Stan's glasses, which he had left on the table, and grabbed her notebook and a pen. She doodled up something and then taped it up on the wall. Dipper rolled his sad eyes when he saw that it was a fake therapist's license. "Doctor Mabel, reporting for duty! I'm all ears, brother!" she said enthusiastically.
He sighed. "Fine." Mabel readied her pen and notepaper. "I'm sad because I finally asked Wendy out."
"Oh my gosh! You did?! Why is that sad?!"
"Because she said no. She shot me down like a target at a gun range. I simply asked her to the diner, and her smile just fell. Then she told me that she already had plans to go with stupid Robbie and her stupid friends."
"Ouch."
"Yeah. Then she goes 'oh, maybe some other time!' and I just said 'whatever'. She'll never go with me. She was only saying that because of how depressed I was. She could tell. It crushed me."
Dipper's sad eyes filled up with tears, and he curled into a ball as he began to cry. Mabel finished writing her sentence, then quickly got up and walked to the couch, sitting down as close as she possibly could to her weeping brother. She affectionately wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug. "Oh, Dipper...it's OK." she said softly.
"No it's not! Wendy just rejected me! Now I KNOW what will happen! She's gonna fall in love with Robbie, marry Robbie, have kids with Robbie_ and so forth. I'm ruined!" he sobbed.
"No you are not. Someday, she'll realize that you're a really nice, sweet, wonderful, amazing guy. And what a huge, insensitive jerk Robbie is. She'll fall head over heels for you one day, I guarantee it!" Mabel encouraged.
Dipper looked at his sister. "You really think so?"
"I KNOW so."
Dipper gave a small smile. He leaned in and gave Mabel a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks sis."
"Any time, Dippingsauce."
They were silent for a few moments, long enough for Dipper to look closely at Mabel. Here was his sister, who he loved dearly. She wasted half an hour of the time she could've spent playing with Waddles, or scrapbooking, or_ other abnormal Mabel things. He felt a new feeling in his chest he had never felt before as he looked at Mabel. It was like he was being hit by a ton of bricks. But it couldn't be_
Oh no.
He and Mabel both blushed, as they knew they were both feeling the same thing. After a few awkward moments, Dipper coughed. "I'm heading to bed. See ya tomrorrow, sis." he said.
"OK, I'm gonna stay up and watch some cartoons. Goodnight, Dip."
"Goodnight, Mabel."
