I Have Waited
Among the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom, a head of obsidian hair stood out against the delicate pink. She was trembling, as today was the day. The day that she graduated high school, the one thing that she thought she wasn't going to be able to accomplish. She was grateful that any high school would take her in the first place.
This girl's name is Kagome. On the day that she turned 15, three years prior, she had fallen down a well in her shrine. It doesn't seem so special at first, until you learn she traveled in time, to the feudal era of Japan. During that year, she fought demons, gathered shards to an all-powerful jewel, and even saved the world in a way. With all of that, she still managed to fall in love.
She fell in love with a half-demon named InuYasha. They hated each other at first, but over time they realized how they actually felt. It took a while, but it eventually happened. But just as soon as it did, the well closed. She couldn't see him ever again, and vice-versa. This devastated her, almost leaving her empty. She wanted to be with him, but fate would never allow that. For months she couldn't think straight. The modern world seemed to be much farther ahead than her. But as she entered high school, she realized that she had to focus, and just finish school. She then could work at the shrine. She could be at least near the Go-Shin-Boku and the well, to at least feel close.
So at last comes the day. The day where she was done. Noticing the time, she made her way over to where they were holding the ceremony. It was dull and boring, but hey, what kind of ceremony isn't? At least, it was boring until they called her name. She stood up, and walked down with pride. When she was handed the diploma, she felt free. As if, now she can relax and enjoy life, to an extent. When she sat back in her seat, she had to smack herself lightly. 'You can't be thinking of InuYasha anymore, he's gone and living his life, so you need to as well.'
As she walked out from the ceremony once it concluded, to see her mom and her brother. Her mom was aging well, with only some gray hair. Sota, on the other hand, shot up like a rocket. He was drastically taller, and now a middle school student. Whilst felling proud of herself she heard Mama Higurashi say, "Congratulations Kagome, you really deserve this. I'm proud of you!" and in the back Sota adds, "Me too sis!" But all Kagome can pay attention to was what everyone else was staring at.
She saw a man, looked about 18-20, and had silver hair, almost like…InuYasha.
He was too far away for Kagome to make out a face entirely, but he was coming closer, and towards her. As he neared, the wind picked up and blew the hat off his head, revealing his ears.
It was InuYasha.
Kagome felt overwhelmed. She was so happy that she couldn't help the tears. As InuYasha was within ten feet of her, she could hear him say, "I have waited, Kagome. I've waited for you. I've waited 500 years to see you again. I- "But before he could finish, she flung herself onto him and held onto him tight, as if he'd disappear if she let go. "InuYasha, I've felt so lost, and now I feel like I found my way. You lit up the path for me. But please, never leave me again."
"I'd never leave you, not for anything."
