They had met in high school. They were both seniors. He was tall, handsome and bad. She was short, beautiful and innocent. Somehow, she was attracted to him and he was attracted to her. 3 months after they had met, they were already the power couple in school. Her parents didn't approve of him but they didn't care. They were in love. He was seventeen, she was close to turning sixteen. For her 16th birthday, she wanted to lose her virginity. He was her first and he swore to her that he would be her only one. He changed her completely. She was no longer innocent. They didn't graduate from high school. Her parents were beyond shocked to learn that their little girl was still dating him and that she had given him her most precious posession. And now she was not graduating from high school. They had grounded her. But they kept seeing each other. At night, when her parents were asleep he would climb up to her window and spend the night with her. One day, they found out because they forgot to put the used condom in the trash. Her parents threatened her to send her away. Shortly after she packed up her things and ran away from home.
She moved in with him and she lost contact to her parents. One day, they passed by her house by chance and they found the police surrounding her house. She felt the panic rise inside and got out of the car followed by him. She ran towards the door and ignored the police officers who tried to hold her back. She went inside and steered towards the kitchen with him still behind her. There she saw her parents on the floor. Dead. She lost it. The dam broke. She started crying and her legs gave out from under her. He caught her just in time and rubbed soothing circles on her back. She hid her face in his strong muscled chest.
She started working for him. One day she caught him with another woman. He told her that she had forced herself onto him. She didn't believe it. She started doing drugs. He still loved her just as much. She started doubting herself. She couldn't handle it anymore. She wanted to live a normal life. After 5 years, she broke it off with him. He begged her to stay. She shook her head. She told him that she would always love him. Then she left. She tried living a normal life in California. He stayed in Boston and spiraled out of control. He started drinking, doing drugs and screwing hookers. His friends were worried but didn't voice their concerns. His brother begged him to stop. One day, he beat his brother into a bloody mess but his friends came to his rescue. From then on he stopped doing drugs. He blamed himself for not being there for his brother. He started taking more care of him. He urged him to keep his grades up and to finish high school.
He always swore to himself that he would never fall in love again.
6 years later, she came back. He looked up from his beer. The hollering of his friends had disturbed his thoughts and he followed their gazes towards the door. She had come back and he forgot his promise. He hadn't thought that it was possible to fall in love with the same person again.
Their eyes locked across the bar and he mumbled her name. „Taylor."
She looked at him and could only muster one word from between her lips.
„Billy."
