This was just alittle idea that came to me, and well, here it is! This is my first L/Light, so I am greatly sorry if they are out of character.
Cloudy
L popped another sugar coated strawberry into his mouth and looked up at me intently. We were sitting on a rusty bench in the middle of an empty park. You could hear birds chirping in the trees, and the wind was soft and cool. I smiled down at him. It was a rare occasion, being alone this way, just L and me.
"Light, do you ever try to find pictures in the clouds?" L wrapped his arms around his knees and held them to his chest, waiting for my answer. I looked up at the clouds, and then back to him.
"No, I haven't" I told him, "Why?" L stared at me, and then looked up at the sky.
"There are so many things you can find in the sky..." he stated slowly, "You could look up and see, I don't know, an ice cream cone, then look away for a moment and look up and see that the same cloud is a ballerina." He shook his head, his dark hair falling further in front of his tired eyes. "There's no uniform shape for each cloud, every time you look up, there's something different. " I couldn't figure out what he was trying to tell me, he was making less sense than usual.
"Why do you find that so interesting?" I asked, and from all the sense he was making, I thought I'd get some silly answer, like, 'the clouds helped me with the Kira investigation' or 'the clouds tell me when there will be a tragedy'.
"The clouds are unpredictable, in that they change all the time, and you can't be sure what they'll do next. It reminds me that I don't know everything...and that sometimes now knowing what will happen next is better." L smiled, and glanced at me. I pulled him over to me, and he rested his head on my shoulder. I loved when he'd get this way. It was an infrequent occurrence, so when it did happen, I tried to enjoy it as much as I could. L shifted in his seat to face me, and wrapped his arms awkwardly around my neck. I leaned down to rest my forehead against his as it started to rain softly. L gave me a quick kiss, and a small smile lit up his face.
That little gesture made me realize that it's really nice not knowing what's going to happen at a certain time, all the time. I turned to look up at the sky once more, letting the rain drops fall on my face, and inwardly thanked the clouds for being there.
I may add more little one shots to this sooner or later, suggestions?
Ill give you cookies...or cake...and L will share his strawberries if you review :3
