"Just don't let go of my hand," Cloud said, his voice was stern even through his gritted teeth. "Do not let go." He looked down towards the water dancer. It's not she was heavy or anything, no. Cloud just…it was hard to hold onto her when he himself was holding on. Mere feet above them, on a massive platform was a good friend of Cloud's.
"Bahamut," Cloud mumbled to himself as he readjusted the small grip his fingers had on the ledge. As the dragon roared and called out its dominance over their mortality, the blond struggled to keep his grip on this jagged ledge. A ledge that was, well, slowly disintegrating. It was the wrong place, the wrong time, the wrong everything as small bits and pieces of said ledge would claw into the palm of his hand, as if everything about this very moment seemed to be pushing against them.
With the grip he had on the girl's hand though, he wouldn't be able to lift her properly. So instead—"Swing your body-weight to the left," Cloud ordered, mako-eyes looking down at her before nodding opposite of them. Looking back towards her, he saw the determination behind her nod as the two timed the swinging of their bodies—it hurt the Soldier, he could feel his shoulder twisting with each forceful swing.
There was no time to be aching though. The pain would have to be disregarded for the time being. The dragon was coming closer—he could feel it in the way the earth shook. Someone needed to get up there and distract them, and for the moment, it'd have to be this knight.
As the two reached the pique of their swing, Cloud added an extra force to his arm, sending the Knight flying into the air. She landed ever-so-gracefully on the dragon's back, impaling into the flesh. In pain, Bahamut reared onto it's back legs, a louder roar yet leaving it. Whilst that happened, the soldier hoisted himself back onto the cliff and ran towards the dragon, sword drawn and at the ready.
With his running start, he jumped into the air, impaling the beast. He caught eyes with Aqua, and a mutual nod was shared with a mutual "Right!" as the two ran in the same direction, blades cutting through the flesh of the dragon's neck. Taking the entire circumference of the neck, Aqua met Cloud's initial cut, and Cloud took Aqua's, ending up on the beast as it fell. Jumping away from the falling body, Cloud landed beside the water Knight, holding out a hand toward her.
Without even looking, Aqua reached over and met hands with the soldier, and the two had a "bro-moment" as knuckles collided.
"Today was something," Cloud muttered.
"Oh definitely," Aqua nodded.
And so the two simply watched as the beast's remains burst into flame before a kick in the wind swept it away.
