UNEXPECTED
Kurt had only just finished hanging the final decoration on the Warblers Christmas tree when he heard the soft clacks of Blaine's shoes on the multicolored tiles of the dorm. Kurt swiftly hid behind the tree hoping to surprise Blaine; the faint clicks began to move past the tree then they stopped. He could hear Blaine shift around on the heels of his feet then his soft voice begins to sing. Kurt stood behind the tree listening to Blaine whimsically sing; when Blaine had finished Kurt stepped out from behind the tree tears in his eyes.
"That was beautiful" he whispered, Blaine jumped a bit and spun around he had a worried look on his face.
"Really, are you sure? I've been working on it the past few days." Blaine's head moved up with a new found confidence his eyes slowly locking with Kurt's then shyly wandering off.
"It was great, better than anything I'd ever heard at McKinley. But you know that it's supposed to be a duet, right?"
"Yeah" Blaine casually looked down at his feet. "I know, I tried to get several of the Warblers to sing it with me, but all of them told me I wasn't allowed to pick a song that I had to be one of the administrators to even have it considered."
"Well I just so happen to know an administrator here. My dad worked on her car in the middle of a snow storm last Christmas. They started to talk while he was working and when she heard I was transferring to Dalton she told him that she was an administrator there and that if I needed any help settling in I could just ask her." Kurt was out of breath by the time he'd finished explaining. Blaine's mouth maintained an ecstatic smile throughout the entire story which made it extremely hard for Kurt to concentrate on anything else.
Blaine turned on his heel his blazer flowing tight with his body "That's fantastic Kurt! Do you think it'd be okay to ask her if we could do this song together?"
"No! I couldn't possibly do that! This is your song you prepared it you should be the one to perform it! I can go ask the administrator and you can perform it. Besides I'd just take away from your performance."
Blaine stepped forward and gently grabbed Kurt's arm he locked eyes with him. "Nonsense, besides you said that'd it be better as a duet, and there isn't anyone else I'd rather sing it with."
"I guess it's settled then. We'll ask the administrator and we'll both perform it. Let's go ask her before curfew." Blaine grabbed Kurt's hand, and then they ran through the halls laughing all the way. They bounded through the front doors of Dalton, Blaine in the lead. Suddenly Blaine stopped Kurt almost bumped into him.
"Look" Blaine said pointing upwards "mistletoe." The wind picked up blowing a wisp of snow through the slightly ajar door. Kurt didn't notice the chill he only saw Blaine's soft pink lips slowly move towards him; Blaine's chilly hands touch his. That was the moment Kurt knew Blaine was the one. As their warm lips touched they had a small moment of total bliss. Their arms wrapped around each other Blaine's arms were surprisingly muscular, he was very strong but he'd made it a priority not to squeeze too tight. They were both reluctant to pull back but eventually Kurt descended from his tip toes and released Blaine. Without a word they locked hands and began to run to the office again, as if nothing had happened. When really everything had happened at once.
