Ciel sat at the breakfast table, enjoying a late morning brunch of smoked kippers and fried potatoes with Elizabeth. He paid her as little attention as possible, skillfully managing to nod and make noncommittal noises in all the right places, when Sebastian returned with the morning mail. Ciel took one look at the stack of envelopes his butler carried on a silver tray and mentally groaned. He was in no mood for silly, yet necessary, correspondence, but one rather large red envelope caught his eye.
"Bocchan," Sebastian said softly, presenting the tray to his young charge.
"Sebastian." Ciel took the proffered mail and as he sorted through it, Sebastian moved to hand a letter to Elizabeth.
"Thank you, Mister Sebastian!" she said as took it and opened it. Giggling, Elizabeth turned the Valentine over and read the back. "I got a Valentine from Prince Soma!"
"Yeah…?" Ciel said as he opened the large red envelope. He had already received a Valentine from Elizabeth and he wondered if this beautifully ornate one was another one from her. Turning it over to read the back, he grumbled wordlessly in disgust. Before he had a chance to crumple it, Elizabeth snatched it from his hand.
Squealing with a mix of amusement and delight as she read it, Elizabeth tried to explain, but nothing would come out except a few wordless chortles and giggles. When she had finally calmed down enough to speak, she said, "I'm sorry, Ciel. I was explaining Valentine's Day to Prince Soma and he must have misunderstood me. Since I had sent him one already, I'll write him a letter, explaining that you shouldn't send them to boys unless you're a girl." She giggled again. "But you have to admit, it was really sweet of him to send you one!"
