Agni briefly watched Bard carry on an animated conversation with Soma about some American holiday called, "the fourth of July." Soma was just as eagerly telling him about Jhapan festival that fell at roughly the same time for the goddess Manasa. Pleased that Soma insisted on helping with the preparations for Elizabeth's "Friendship Day" picnic, he gave him the task of helping Bard make sandwiches. The newest member of the Phantomhive staff, Snake, was quietly listening to their conversation as he polished the silverware. Even Maylene was going slowly and carefully as she packed the dishes in the picnic hamper. Agni breathed a little sigh of relief everything was going well. Sebastian had asked him to oversee the preparations for the picnic, while he and Ciel went to get Elizabeth.
A quick check out the window, and Agni saw that Finnian had set up the tent and arranged things just as he was told. He finished ladling the curry into the waiting earthenware pots. After covering them, and tying some large tea towels around them to hold their lids on, he packed them into a separate hamper along with some pots of rice. Breezing past Soma and Bard, he asked, "My prince, Chef Bard, how are those sandwiches coming along?"
"We're nearly finished, Agni," Soma replied "So tell me more about this 'Friendship Day,' Chef Bard. What else do you do besides have a picnic? Are there going to be fireworks and presents and sweets?"
"Uh… I have no idea…" Bard replied. At the prince's questioning look, he sheepishly added, "I think the little lady made it up."
"Oh…" Soma sounded disappointed.
"But it is a wonderful idea none-the-less, my prince," Agni said, carefully packing a box of jellabies.
"Yes! When will they be here, Agni?"
"Soon, my prince."
"Good!"
