x For a Little While Longer x 200 words
I stand between them, waiting, hoping, pleading that one of them notice my presence.
I clutch the wooden starfish tightly in my hands, sending my message through it, hoping it would reach them somehow. It doesn't.
Then, they meet up with an old man. He asks about the wedding. My heart leaps.
They look at each other over my head, both equally puzzled.
The man continues to speak, talking about my sister's wedding, and how they had been the ones to ask him to let it be held there.
The two stay puzzled.
I close my eyes tightly, and hug my starfish close to me. Please let them hear me, I pray. Please let them see me again.
They look at each once again. Their eyes widen. They know they have forgotten something.
They look down at me, both at the same time.
'Have you been here the whole time?' I am asked.
I nod. They look at me, their faces full of sadness.
I smile though. I am happy enough.
Please let it stay like this for just a little bit longer. Just until the wedding, please.
Let me keep my starfish festival for just a little bit longer. x owari
