Hello earthlings! This is my first story so, don't kill me! This is going to be shorter than my future chapters because it's a prologue.

Dear Journal,

I've been getting into more fights, so Mother gave me this so I could release my anger with writing. I was quite angry at first, I still am, a fifteen year old girl shouldn't have a diary! Only good thing about this is that I can write this in purple pen. So…. I got better things to do, like playing video games, or something.

Merit closed her journal and sighed, moving some of her blonde hair away from her sky blue eyes, her mother had the strangest ideas. Pushing her wheeled chair away from her desk, she stood up and yawned, "I need a pepsi." She said, going out her bedroom door and down the stairs. Her mother was at work and wouldn't care if she helped herself to the tooth decaying drink. Turning left from the base of the staircase, she entered the kitchen. The kitchen wasn't very modern, but it worked for the family of two. Opening the fridge, Merit grasped the cold blue can, turning, she shut the door with her foot. Popping the lid open she smiled as the bubbles fizzed, putting the can up to her lips she took a drink, but almost spat it out instantly. A crash had came from the living room, she froze, someone was in the house. Quietly she set down her soda on the counter, her mother's knife block was in arm's reach, she pulled out the largest knife. Holding it out in front of her, she slowly made her way towards the living room.

Her eyes widened, there wasn't anyone there. "Hello? Someone there?' Merit whispered, her terror turning into curiosity.

"Hehe, funny human girl thinks she can hurt what she can't see." A childish voice said, as it came into Merit's view. It looked something like a round green monkey with purple markings on it.

"I can see you perfectly fine jerk!" She yelled and threw the knife at it, missing it by about a foot.

"So, you can see AND hear us. Your an interesting human you know. Hehe" It said in a sing-song voice, jumping from furniture to furniture. Suddenly it jumped onto Merit's shoulders, "I will follow you now, it shall be fun."

"Wait, what?! No, you need to leave! I don't even know who or what you are! If my mom found out she would kill me!" She yelled, she didn't like where this was going.

"I'm Keiran, a hobgoblin." He paused, as if thinking something over. "Then kill your mother before she kills you, thats what I did. Hehe" He said, making Merit flinch, the conversation was getting dark.

"You should leave, like now." She said, looking at the vase he had broken.

"Can't sweetheart, if I leave the Order will get me." It sang nonchalantly.

"Order?" Merit said severely confused.

"They are secret organization, they want to get me because I discovered something." He whispered, smiling, quietly giggling.

"What secret?" She asked, raising her eyebrow, her curiosity growing.

"Not telling, unless… We make a deal." Kieran whispered the last part, a dark grin on his face.

"What kind of deal?" She asked, growing worried.

"I'll tell you about the Order, and you will let me stay." He said deviously.

"Deal, now spill it!" Merit said, her curiosity eating her from the inside out.

"Not yet, I want to have fun!" He yelled out, with a cheerful smile. Suddenly he busted out the door, "time to have fun!"
