Skyward

At Madagascar, Julian would always look toward the stars. When his parents, limp and bloodied, were dragged away by the foosa he knew they would be in the stars. But now, the quiet meditation of the forest was gone.

Once, while struggling to catch rest late into the evening, he spotted a penguin's silhouette, no mistaking the stout frame and angled head for Skipper. He watched as the penguin slowly sat down, and his eyes glaze over as he sought the same comfort. The lemur approached, and they wordlessly gazed into the sky, trying to reach where they were going.
