A/N: So I can't believe I'm writing fanfiction again. But I needed to write out a writer's block and I couldn't think of anything else to do. I've had this idea for a while. I'm not totally happy with it, so maybe someday they'll be a rewrite.
P.S. Not that anyone cares, but my pen name is now lovelyseven. I previously went by emi07 over in the Animorphs category.
Disclaim: They're owned by DC! Who is actually owned by Time-Warner, the world's largest media conglomerate. All you people who think that Disney will totally be changing the face of Marvel, DC has still been pretty much it's own entity since they were bought in the 60s.

A visitor. Who would be visiting me?
He came in. I'd almost forgotten how imposing he could be. That walk. Tall and hunched at the same time. Someone you wouldn't want to mess with. This was not how I expected to see him again. It wasn't supposed to be this soon. And it wasn't supposed to be like this. Batman.
"You here to bail me out? Thanks, but I can take care of myself." Although I wasn't so sure of that anymore. "I've managed so far." Sorry, Bruce, but I gave up on thinking you'd be there to save me a while ago. After Slade.
"No." He never was a talker. It was the Voice, too. There was no question that he was here as Batman. "I'm here in the capacity of a member of the Justice League." Well. I hadn't been expecting that. "There's been rising tension between the League and the civilian population lately. This incident is aggravating an already troubled situation." Ah. So he was just here to make an appearance.
"So you're just going to leave me in here then." Why had I expected any different?
"The League has been under a lot of pressure lately. It has to be clear that we will not be interfering with a clear case of law-breaking when a hero is involved."
"And they sent you? You've never been the League's ambassador. That's usually Superman." Superman. Why couldn't they have sent him instead, if they felt it necessary to make an appearance? Clark would have at least been sorry for being here. Would have tried to comfort me. So why send Batman? Unless. Unless he'd volunteered. Suddenly I understood.
"This is personal, isn't it."
Silence.
" If it's you, not one of the others, the world can be sure the League won't be interfering here. We're the ones with the history. You're here to finally wash your hands of me."
More silence. Suddenly I felt the need to protest. To defend myself to him. After all this time. "You know I couldn't have ... that I wouldn't have … he could regenerate. I fought him before. I knew where the line was. I didn't cross it."
Still silence. "I DIDN'T KILL HIM." I was getting angry now. "SAY SOMETHING!"
Nothing. Nothing. Just that look of cold, hard, indifference. "Batman … please." I felt myself getting desperate. Everything I had worked so hard for. Worked to set myself apart from Bruce. To build the Titans. To prove myself. And yet I still looked for his approval. I should have earned his trust by now. I was practically his son, if an estranged one. And yet here he was. Condemning me. If the League washed their hands of me, fine. They'd been wrong before. But if Batman walked out of here. That would be the end. Even I'd think I was guilty. "Bruce …" For a second, I thought I saw a flicker of emotion in his eyes. But it was gone before I could be sure.
"In the event that you are proven innocent by the law, the League will show full support." Everything we'd been through together in the past, and that was all I got. "Goodbye Robin." I lowered my head. I'd already been sentenced. When I looked up again, he was gone.
