Cake Dots Her Fingertips

Two years ago today, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hit the shelves. One year ago, Tassel630 and I wallowed in my room. Today, I write.

So I'm gonna give this a shot. I know it won't turn out well, since I'm running on three hours of sleep and about eight candy bars.

Disclaimer: JKR already had her fun. It's our turn now.

She sits at a table in the park, surrounded by the cousins and grandparents and aunts and third-relatives-twice-removed that love her so dearly. Her hair is upswept and pearls frame her neck.

She gets up to approach her beloved sister. The hug that she bestows is returned, genuinely if not expressively. He sees her say, "I love you," and wishes it could be he who is hearing those words.

The bush rustles, just a bit, and he has to readjust his view. But now she's gone.

He looks around, trying to find her once more – and there she is, bending to sit down on the swing, much closer to him now.

She's wearing a peach-colored bridesmaid gown that is sleeveless and low-cut. Her makeup was obviously not done by herself, as it's far too heavy for her pale skin. Small brown spots cover her lips, and she licks them away.

Cake dots her fingers as well, and as her hands go to her knees, they leave traces of chocolate on her dress.

"Shoot," she hisses, and attempts to wipe them away, but to no avail.

She shivers in the breeze, and reaches up to her hair. It tumbles down as she lets it loose, sending wafts of fragrance his way. He lets out a heavy breath, and her head turns sharply to him.

"Sev - ?" she asks, and goes to the bush, but it's too late. He's already gone.

Okay, that turned out more weird than I expected. I'm really a spur-of-the-moment writer, and my stories always tend to surprise me. I have now written a Lily/Snape unintentionally. (Speaking of Snape, anyone watch the new Potter Puppet Pals yet? Hysterical!)

Happy Deathly Hallows Day.
