Deak thought that he'd be excited to go out trick-or-treating with Lavi. In fact, he had been for a while. Everyone kept talking about how much candy they'd get and it sounded like a lot of fun! Getting to dress up as whatever you want and people just gave you candy?

Unfortunately, now he was just overly paranoid about the entire idea. How anybody could be excited about it was a mystery to him.

Their school had decided to have an assembly to let all of the children know just how dangerous the night could be. Since everyone would be wearing costumes, it would be hard to tell who was who. And then there was the mention that people put things that could hurt them in the candy.

Of course, while he was paranoid, Lavi seemed to still be extremely excited about it. Which just made him even more paranoid as a result.

"Are you sure you still wanna go?" He asked, frowning as he watched Lavi from his spot on the bed. The younger redhead was wearing his costume already, even though they weren't going for another couple hours.

"Uh huh! Everybody is goin'. And we get free candy!" Lavi smiled, turning to face him. "We won't be alone anyway!"

Deak just crossed his arms, huffing. He really didn't like this. If anything happened to his baby brother, he'd never forgive himself. Or the person who hurt him. But he couldn't just let Lavi go by himself. Even if he wasn't technically going to be alone… It still wasn't his favorite idea.

It was his responsibility to take care of the younger. He promised! And he wasn't going to ever break that promise.

"Alright fine," he muttered, "but only because you wanna go…"
