"A girl, now, A ghost"
The clock struck twelve as the moon glowed through the cloudy night sky. The mist floated in the brisk air. Silence was the only thing present in the old, nearly abandoned town. Oak trees shivered as the wind brushed against them while golden brown leaves danced toward the ground. The screaming silence was broken when a car came to an abrupt stop. He was back to claim what was his.
A small smile came upon his face as he turned to the now sleeping town, the moon still illuminating his face in the otherwise dark background. HE climbs out of the deep red car that wasn't his, the dark smile still adorning his face as he walked swiftly, silently to the door. He reached out quickly, everything would be done quickly tonight, to the doorknob. It turned with ease.
"No lock," he mused. "They weren't expecting me then." This gave a sick kind of thrill to him, his smile only growing, eyes glinting in delight.
The door creaked open and he slipped in inaudibly. His eyes wandered. The room was boarded with dark wood, making it seem darker than it was. The rays of moonlight shined against the too dark floor. It gave off an ominous look. Pictures hung upon the wall, he didn't bother to look what was in them.
His ears strained to hear the life in the house. He could hear a quiet snore from upstairs and a small sigh from the basement. Sneaking toward the basement door his smile grew so large that it seemed as though his face would break apart in his sick thrill.
He headed straight to the door farthest to the left, a sign that this was not his first vist. There in that room was two people, a mother and a father, sleeping soundly, oblivious to what was to become of them.
The door swung open. His smile grew to an impossibly large size as he stood watching, silently, over the bed.
The mother awoke with a gasp. The house boomed with his laughter, breaking the silence that had settled upon the house, waking the father in his excitement.
The girl woke with a start at the sound of the maniacal laughter, Quivering as she heard the chilling screams of her mother and father over the explosive laughter. She moved to the corner farthest from the door.
Tears burned bitter trails down her cold cheeks. Hands shaking she clutched her stuffed bear to her chest.
The laughter came closer. She tried to muffle her cries of terror with the now wet bear.
Maybe the laughter didn't know she was there. Maybe Mommy and Daddy were okay. This was just one of those scary dreams, like the one she got after she saw E.T. It wasn't real, she was fine. She hoped silently.
It was a vain hope, as this was no dream. The door swung open as a man stepped through the door. He was dressed fairly cleanly, albeit the crimson splatters on his crisp white button down.
His eyes glinted in excitement as he looked down upon the small child.
The moon shined solemnly in the dark night. Small scrams of terror and sadistic laughter dominated the usually quiet night. Suddenly the cries ceased. The laughter, however, only increased in excitement.
Doors slammed themselves slat against the wall as the man walked swiftly out of the house. His eyes stared straight ahead. He opened the car door and slipped into the cal

"Good time." He whispered to no one but himself. He looked back at the house as he drove into the night.
This was his town they couldn't take it.
