"...-pearance of the Numen in Sinnoh was a sudden one, occurring quite literally overnight and without warning. Trainers of all kinds awoke not to the company of their Pokemon partners, but to that of mysterious strangers. 50 years have passed since their first appearance and their presence is even more widespread that before, with Numen occupying routes and towns alike. What exactly they are, and why they suddenly came into existence, are questions that still elude even the most proficient of Sinnoh's researchers.
One fact has been widely accepted however; Numen and Pokemon are heavily related to one another. The powers held by the Numen have not gone unnoticed and parallels have been made with healthy reasoning. To cite an often used example, the Numen found within what were once Pokemon Centres have a superb healing ability, beyond that of the most skilled of doctors. Many consider them to have stemmed somehow from the Chansey companions that had once assisted nurses everywhere.
As is often the case in this region rich with mythology, many assume a cause related to the old Gods. Mew, 'The Mother' is one suspect to much consideration, being the old God widely considered to be the creator of all life. A reason for such divine intervention has yet to be agreed upon. Some consider it a mishap, an error. Others believe it was an attempt to free Pokemon from the 'tyrannical rule' of humans. Individual reasons are countless, but few are provable by any means.
Whatever the reason assumed for their appearance, the reaction to their presence is often the same for many. One of fear, resentment, or distrust. Their abilities extend far beyond healing as many know, with the majority commanding destructive powers unmatched by anything humans have thus far been capable of achieving. Numen settled into civilised life rarely display violent behaviour or ill intent towards humans, but those within routes, forests and caves are a different story. Highly territorial and gang-like in behaviour and demeanor, walking alone and unprotected through land inhabited by Numen is a highly dangerous endeavor, often having fatal consequences.
It is for this very reason that a defense force of sorts was developed and is to this day being effectively utilised. Composed of highly trained individuals, among whom the mysterious Hadroits are readily found. The name of this defense force is one well known and respected among the region.

The dial of the radio is turned suddenly, static buzzing between half heard words until silence momentarily filled the room. Chatter from another radio within the house, tuned to a much different frequency, leaked into the room alongside distant chirping, the rustle of leaves and familiar laughter.
It was about time to leave again, he thought.
