Nn sat against a tree lost in her book. It was about her idol, Tiki, and her adventures. She couldn't believe she was fighting alongside the great dragon that she read about in her books. She especially loved Tiki's relationship with Marth. Maybe she would have someone special like that someday.
"Nn! Where are you? Nono told me you headed off this way."
Nn winced. "Darn her. I thought I could hide from him and read in peace for awhile. My mother doesn't understand me at all."
She peaked around the tree and saw Wood calling for her. She sighed and went back to reading. There was no desire to run and hide all day because he would never give up.
"Aha! I found you! That was fun wasn't it?"
"Until now…." She muttered under her breath.
"You say something?"
"Nope nope nope." She said in a painfully obvious sarcastic way.
Wood squinted at her questioningly. "Hmmm…ok then. Should we think of names for our special attacks? You never came up with one last time."
He was oblivious. Nn slammed her book shut and stood up but Wood kept yapping.
"How about flaming black tornado of death? That would bring fear to the hearts of our enemies when you shout it out."
"Wood."
"No? How about flaming spiral of doom?"
"Wood!" Nn shouted. "You don't get it. I'm not a child and I wish you would stop treating me like one."
Wood fell back from the force of her shout and sat shocked at her sudden outburst.
"I'm sorry but I was so good with children in the future. They thought I was great! I don't know how you want me to treat you."
She felt bad for yelling but she needed him to understand that she was the same age as everyone there.
"I guess I should apologize to you as well. I'm not a little child. I look younger but I am actually the same age as you and the others."
"Really!? I didn't know."
"Also I like to sit and read quietly, not play hide and seek or play make believe. I didn't tell you before because…..well because I like being around you despite how you treat me."
"I like you too, Nn."
"Yes, but as a child. I want you to think of me as a girl. One you could possibly love."
"What!? Oh…..why me? There are other guys."
"You have a strong and kind heart and that's attractive to a girl like me."
He sat thinking on it. "I see. It will be weird at first but I would like to give it a try. Please be patient with me though."
Nn giggled. "I've already been extremely patient but you've made me happy. I hope you continue to do so."
"Awww. Come here you!" Wood grabbed her and swung her around.
"Nooooo! You haven't changed at all!"
