Walking beside him, I take his hand and entwine our fingers. It has taken us forever to get here; able to walk side by side with no fear of being torn apart.
I used to think it was impossible. That we would never find a way to be happy together. There was always too much happening in our lives; things got in the way.
But we're here now, together. And nothing will take that away from us.
"What are you thinking?" he asks.
"Just that we're finally here, together."
And we are. Because our love lives on.
Even in death.
