The Three Nekomimis
Chapter 1
It was a cool summer evening, the wind bristled through the trees softy and the sound of a nearby lake came over the hill and into the valley. There was a single tree in the valley and under this large oak tree sat a sleeping, teenage boy. He wasn't exactly handsome but pleasing to the eye. He had long, dark, curly hair to hide his cat ears. His tail was tucked, out of sight, up his slightly torn baize tunic. He was known as Aear as was travelling with his twin sister Annear and their younger sister Chiquita.
"Found you Oni-chan!" called a young girl from behind him, startling him awake. It was Chiquita. She looked to be about eight or nine, had shoulder length light brown, almost ginger, hair and wore a black tunic similar to Aear's, but only reached down to her knees. "I'm gonna tell Onee-chan that you where sleeping!" said Chiquita.
"I wasn't sleeping." lied Aear. "Besides we both know you wont." Aear sighed and stood up.
"Onee-chan set up camp by the lake." said Chiquita pointing out over the hill.
"Great water." moaned Aear.
"Wanna go swimming later oni-chan?" asked Chiquita.
"Maybe."
"Promise?"
"Chiqui, I haven't even said yes yet." said Aear heading over to the camp.
"You did." argued Chiquita "You said you'd come swimming with me if onee-chan set up camp near some water."
"You like water too much."
"I do not!" said Chiquita dejectedly.
"You're a cat too." said Aear.
"Doesn't mean I shouldn't swim." contradicted Chiquita
"Do you have to wind her up, Aear?" said Annear as they came into the camp. Annear had long brown hair, though not much longer then Chiquita's, and wore a white tunic. All three them had blue, greying eyes. There 'camp' consisted of two tents, one slightly bigger then the other, a small fold-up picnic table with three fold up chairs alongside and a small fire with saucepan of water on the boil was situated between them.
"I wasn't" lied Aear.
"Do you two really have to be so childish." scolded Annear.
"She started it." said Aear.
"I did not!." complained Chiquita
"Dinner's on the table." said Annear pointing to the picnic table which had three bowls of rice on it.
"We're sitting next to a lake why didn't you catch some fish." complained Aear sitting down to eat.
"Are you forgetting that your allergic to fish?" said Annear exasperatedly.
"Oni-chan's so forgetful." giggled Chiquita.
"Am not!" mumbled Aear through a mouthful of rice.
"Aear, you should set a better example for your little sister." said Annear already halfway through her meal.
"You set a better example." retorted Aear childishly
"I'm not little!" interrupted Chiquita though she was ignored.
"I'm setting a better example then you could." said Annear pushing bitter emotions to the back of her head. "We leave first thing in the morning." she said standing up and taking her now empty bowl over to the fire to wash up.
"Onee-chan, can I go for a swim?" Chiquita asked Annear as her and Aear finished their rice and handed Annear.
"As long as Aear stays here to keep an eye on you. I'm gonna see if I can find some more food."
"Hai." Agreed Aear as Chiquita ran into the larger tent to get changed.
