A mouse sat in the long grass grooming itself. It had no way of knowing its life was in danger. The hunter crouched, put all his strength in his hind legs and pounced. The mouse saw his white pelt and took off. The hunter laded with a loud thud, his paws catching only air…
"Snowpaw! You should have had that!" Lionblaze, Snowpaws newly appointed mentor hissed. "You're walking around as loudly as a badger!"
'I thought mentors were supposed to teach their apprentices! Not insult them!' Snowpaw thought angry looking up at his mentor. He turned around and started walking towards camp. "Lionblaze thinks he's all that! Just because he's a warrior!" Snowpaw mumbled, kicking at the ground.
As he was nearing the camp he heard Lionblaze's voice 'He's just like his father Cloudtail! Loud, obnoxious, and his fluffy white pelt just screams kittypet!'
Snowpaw's eyes widened in surprise. He turned and stared at Lionblaze. "What did you just say?!" Snowpaw hissed.
"Huh? Nothing!" Lionblaze mewed, looking at him in confusion.
Snowpaw turned backaround. 'I must just be hungry…' he thought as they walked into camp.
Snowpaw's mother Brightheart hurried over to them. "How was your first hunting trip?" She asked cheerfully, her good eye gleaming.
When Snowpaw was first born he was actually afraid of his mother. Half of her face was scarred and one of her eyes was missing. He was later told that when she was just an apprentice she had been injured in a fight with a pack of dogs. Now he barely noticed the scarres.
"It was okay." He mumbled as he walked over to the apprentice den.
'Oh my! I hope his white fur wasn't a problem for him!' He heard Brightheart worry. Strangely he could have sworn she hadn't opened her mouth.. He decided to stop and grab a mouse from the fresh kill pile.
As he walked over he felt the looks of cats stinging his back. 'Why is everyone looking at me?' He thought.
'Maybe its because you have white fur and blue eyes, which usually indicates deafness or the fact your fathers full kttypet or maybe its that weird fuzzy feeling cats get when their around you.' Came Jayfeather, the Thunderclans Medicine cats, voice.
Snowpaw hissed and turned around. "What did you just say?!" his hissed looking at the blind cat. It seemed like Jayfeather was looking right at him.
"I didn't say anything!" Jayfeather hissed back though his eyes were full of confusion.
"Yes you did! You were saying that cats were staring at me because of how I looked! I heard you!" Snowpaw growled feeling annoyed. Snowpaw turned around and ran to the apprentice den completely forgetting about getting something to eat.
"Maybe a good nights sleep will clear my mind…" he mumbled as he drifted off to sleep…
