He never had kissed her. That was a far too intimate act for him. It wasn't until after he defected from the soul society did she realize why. That had been a new Gin Ichimaru. Not that one that she had played with as a child, not the one who gave her a birthday and ended her loneliness.

The most he ever did was hold her hand and even that was impersonal. It was like he was holding the hand of a small annoying child that he was responsible for. It made her heart ache to think about it. She had put forth so much emotion into their non-existent relationship. She should have known it was going to blow up in her face.

Perhaps, if she had been a better friend, things wouldn't have turned out like they did.

He kissed her, and she loved it. For someone who was suppose to be so cold and unemotional, he was passionate in his actions with her. It made her heart tremble and her legs go so weak that she wanted to fall. Surprising for someone she thought to be inexperienced. Lucky thing she was sitting down.

Hitsugaya Toshiro, her captain and friend, now was so much more than that. He actually seemed to want to be with her. When he smiled, it wasn't fake, it was a true smiled only reserved for her. Even when he yelled at her about neglecting her work, she knew she would never have to worry about him leaving her behind. He made her feel things she thought would never feel again after having her heart broken by Gin.

In a way, she felt a little guilty. It was like she was betraying her feelings for Gin, even if he betrayed her already. However, the fingers trailing through her hair tugging her closer and the sweet murmurs whispered against her mouth made those feelings wash away. This kiss made her feel like she didn't deserve pain she had gone through. He made her feel like she deserved this affection. He made her believe that she could be loved.

For that, he held a special place in her heart that Gin never had.

End.
