"W-where?"
I blinked my eyes open and awoke on the cold floor of an open room. I brought myself to a wobbly-stance and decided to explore my new-found surroundings.
It appeared that I was trapped in a large house. Maybe even a mansion. But the rooms were endless. No sign of an entrance or an exit of the magnificent house. The longer I roamed... The more afraid I became.
/Where the hell is the entrance to this place... I mean...There should at least be some windows!/
"Hey girl... Open the walls-"
A little girl's voice sung. I gasped and clung to the wall at my side.
/Are there really other people here?! That means I'm not alone!/
"Play with your dolls-"
The child continued. I sped through the hall in search of the girl, following her voice as it rang through the hallway and bounced from room to room.
"We'll be a perfect family~"
/Wait... This song seems familiar somehow.../
A short vision flooded my mind. Images of a family, broken by each other.
~~~~ "Hey! M-Mom! Please wake up! Dad- He's with a slut! AND YOUR SON IS SMOKING CANNIBUS!" A middle-aged girl cried. Shaking her mother to snap out of the glazed trance that had washed over her. The mother sat up from the couch she was sitting on and lay still for several moments. She then returned to her own thoughts. Bottle in hand, she took a swig and burst into tears.~~~~
I shook my head and continued down the hall with the giggles of the child to guide me.
"No one ever listens... This wallpaper glistens-"
I swung open a door to find a cafeteria, and within it, a middle-aged boy standing over a sink that was holding up a large kitchen knife to his face and making small cuts all over his face. He pressed the blade closer to his face around his mouth and made two deep gashes into his cheeks.
/Another person! I might have a chance of getting out of here! But what is he doing to himself?!/
"N-NO! Stop it! What are you doing?!"
I exclaimed. I watched as he repeated his actions until I couldn't stand it anymore. /Why..? Why would he do that?!/
"Don't let them see what goes down in the kitchen-"
The voices went on. Every lyric bringing a new picture and memory to mind.
I slammed the door shut and continued onto the next couple rooms. The rooms that I checked after the cafeteria were all empty and boring. Each one was just like the next one. The only thing that stood out was a bathroom and what looked like a master bedroom that the head of the house might have slept inside.
After a while of searching, I came across a room that had yet another person inside. The room opened into a girl's powder room.
/I just realized... The voice stopped singing! Does that mean that the girl inside here is the owner of that voice?/
Inside the room there sat a large mirror attached to a dressing counter and a stool at it's side. Sitting on top of the stool was a thin and fragile figure.
/This must be her.../
Her golden blond hair that looked like it would hang well below her shoulders was tied back with a hair-band, and her dress was tattered and faded. And there she sat. Not even bothering to acknowledge my presence. She stared at herself in the mirror and lightly touched her pale face. Her light-blue eyes glimmered when she finally noticed me. She opened her mouth as if to begin singing again, but remained reticent.
I couldn't help but gaze at the beautiful jewelry that she was wearing. Her arms and neck were adorned with gold, silver, and jewels alike. She grabbed an item off of the counter and adjusted it so that it balanced perfectly as the final touch of her outfit. A dazzling headpiece that glittered when the little light there was hit it ever so gently.
