Hi everyone! Hope you enjoy the one-shot! It's not long, I'm afraid, but hopefully it's good! X3

La Muerte folded her arms, feeling a familiar stare on her back.

"What is it, Xibalba?" She asked him, not bothering to turn around. She knew well enough it was him. After all, they had been married for centuries.

There was silence for a moment as her husband thought. He had a habit of showing up at random moments, just to see her. She was far too lovely to leave behind for too long. He tilted his head, waiting. Finally, she turned.

"You've been staring at me like that for the past ten minutes." She said. "I demand to know what could possibly be so interesting."

Xibalba chuckled, stepping closer to her. She eyed him with mock suspicion.

"Is there anything more interesting in the realms than you, mi amor?" He replied, smirking. She raised an eyebrow at him.

"Don't flatter me, Xibalba. What is it really?"

Xibalba scoffed, but she didn't buy it. He shook his head.

"I was just thinking."

"That's not a good sign." La Muerte remarked. "Not another wager, I hope..?"

"No, no, no. Nothing like that." He waved a hand, as if shooing away the memory of their last wager. He paused, looking at her thoughtfully. "I was thinking about… your hat.."

La Muerte blinked, confused. "My hat? What do you mean?"

"Oh, just that it seems to get in the way sometimes." He replied innocently. What was he doing?

La Muerte put a hand on the brim of her headpiece.

"I think it's rather elegant." She brought her hand down, still trying to figure out what her husband might be up to. "... I suppose it does get in my eyes, sometimes."

Xibalba smirked. "I was thinking of more important things."

Suddenly, he kissed her, pulling her close. For a moment, La Muerte was stunned. Xibalba seized her hat and flung it away. She cried out, pulling away from him.

"So that's what you were trying to do!" She exclaimed. Xibalba laughed.

"I think you look much better without it." He confessed, drawing her back as she gazed across the floor where her beloved accessory lay.

"That was a dirty trick." She pouted, "Besides, my hat's not the only thing that gets in the way when we kiss."

It was Xibalba's turn to be confused. Before he could question it, La Muerte had slipped out of his arms and stood at his side, stroking one of his wings. Defenseless, he melted at her touch. Their romance was a game. When he could not captivate her quickly enough, she would be the one to capture him. She always had him wrapped around her finger.

"Have you ever noticed that you have a rather amusing quirk of your own?" La Muerte crooned slyly, pulling his arms back around her. Xibalba narrowed his eyes, not knowing what she meant. He was losing their game, as usual. It didn't matter, however. This was one sport in which he gladly took last place.

La Muerte grinned, knowing she had him once again under her power. She closed the space between them, kissing with passion. As expected, Xibalba's wings twitched, then fluttered. La Muerte held the kiss, waiting. Suddenly, his wings began flapping uncontrollably. She pulled back, unable to contain her laughter as Xibalba stared at his wings in bewilderment.
