Lily ran off crying. How could he? How could Sev, no Snape, call her a mudblood. Maybe James was right. Maybe all slytherins were evil. Maybe they were all manipulative, sly and cruel unless you had something they wanted. God, she had been so stupid. She wanted to believe, believe that some of the slytherins were decent people. That's what she had been brought up to believe. Well not that slytherins were good people, she was muggle-born, but that even the worst people have a good side and to never believe rumours. She never believed her sister when she said Sev was a freak. He wasn't a freak. He was different but not a freak. Anyway freaks are the best people. She was one, so was Sev. Then he came here. Then he became a cruel person. Lily knew she could never trust a slytherin again. They all just wanted to hurt you. They all wanted to see you get heartbroken. They were
"Hey. Are you okay?" a voice broke through her sobs. She lifted her head up, trying to hide her face.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Lily hiccupped out. She didn't want anyone to see her like this.
"Yeah, and that's why you're crying. Tom, do me a favour and give us some peace. Make sure no-one disturbs us would ya? Thanks," the voice replied, slightly sarcastically yet still concerned. Lily didn't bring her head up; she didn't want this stranger (who from the voice she deduced was female) to see her face. She peeked sideways out of her hair to see a ginger/red haired girl plop herself beside Lily. "So are you going to tell me what's wrong?" the girl questioned, her eyes trying to seek out some answers. Lily stayed silent, tears still running down her face. Maybe if she ignored the girl, she might go away. Lily wasn't trying to be horrible but she didn't know how to explain herself. "Take these, you might need them," the girl broke through again. Lily lifted her head, and saw the girl holding a pack of tissues out.
"Thank you," Lily whispered taking the pack.
"So she speaks! What are you doing out here crying, hey?" the girl asked, smiling slightly. Lily still didn't know how to answer, her words becoming stuck in her throat. "Maybe I'll do the talking now? My name's Abbie. What's yours?"
"Lily," Lily croaked out, her voice sore from crying.
"So why are you out here then?"
"I... It's hard to explain," Lily stuttered, using the tissue to wipe up her tears.
"I have time," Abbie smiled, inviting Lily to go on.
"Well..." Over the course of time, Lily told Abbie everything. From how Sev called her a mudblood to how she was worried her sister would never love her again. She spilt her heart out to this girl, and all Abbie did was listen, giving small doses of advice but never once interrupting or getting bored. When Lily had finished her story, they had realised hours had passed. Lily turnt to Abbie. "Thank you, Abbie"
"It's no problem but let me just say one thing. Not all Slytherins are evil," Abbie smiled before dropping something in Lily's hand and walking away. Lily looked at the object in her hand. It was a tie. A green tie.
"She was a Slytherin. Maybe not all of them are bad. Maybe they are just misunderstood."
