I found this idea after watching the movie. The whole movie is beautifully done and amazing. I can not do it justice. But it did sprout this idea after a drought from my muse.
There's probably a lot of mistakes ( I try my best but I still miss some) so I'm sorry about that. plus there's zero dialog. It felt right for this story :)
Honest feelings for this will be appreciated since its my first time in the Pitch black fandom.
Disclaimer: I do not own Pitch Black.
Riddick isn't in love with her.
(He wouldn't)
But he's capable of respect. And with her locked jaw and tense forehead, he respects her for her strength. Carolyn deals with the crash and death of Zeke well, being strong when the group succumbs to crumbling fear.
He respects her courage for listening to him and diving into the hole for Zeke. She knows he isn't lying and accepts the truth.
He likes that. She isn't afraid of the truth. She wants facts and works with it, even if fearful.
He knows that she doesn't like the truth, but she listens anyways.
Carolyn fears him, that much is obvious. But not the same horror his victims have.
She's afraid of him, but it doesn't stop her from disliking him.
(And he likes that as well.)
Riddick's honest with her because she deserves it.
( He doesn't want to hold back with her.)
She doesn't need coddling and he wouldn't be able to give it.
Carolyn's thin. Too much for his taste. Her arms look breakable, ankles easy to crack, knees weak. A thin boyish body and he isn't into that. He likes when his women looks like one; all soft curves and thick hair. She's practical, hair cut short, no make up, body lean.
He finds he watching her slim neck that's held proudly. Her unmade face and dirty, calloused, hands are real to him and only emphasize the characteristics he likes.
This isn't a world for the weak. Trapped in a sweltering world with endless darkness approaching. People already dead.
This isn't a world for the scared.
(And she is neither.)
She steps up, taking action when needed. Not hesitant in fear. She decides in a moment. She stands firm when it was needed. Her desire to live greater than her fear.
He likes her desire to live. She kept going. Kept pushing. She ran. She ran for him because she wanted to live. He finds her strong for that. But even stronger for going back into that hell to save a few. Even at the cost of her life.
But he hates her for that. That she's willing to die for them. Not just for Jack or the priest. But for the crew. For Zeke and Shazza, for everyone one on that planet. She's willing to die so they may live.
She's willing to die for him; a monster of a man.
Carolyn dies because she is strong. And she dies for him because he is weak.
That's how he knows he doesn't love her. Because he hates her for running to him, making it through that hell. That she crumbles onto the ground but is strong enough to shove him away. Then leaves. He hates her because he goes as well. Only to come back and she searches for him. And they're going to leave that hell hole. Instead she's killed in front of him.
To be killed for someone like him.
Riddick can't (he won't) love her for being so foolish.
He can't love her. He hates her too much for that.
