Shuichi leaned against the railing and stared out over the city. He liked the view from their new apartment. It was about the only thing he liked about it.

With a sigh, he dropped a piece of paper over the edge.

What was the point? Why had he bothered to ask his lover's opinion of his latest song writing attempt?

If he'd learned nothing else over the few years they'd been together, he should have known better. Yuki Eiri would never have anything positive to say about anything he wrote.

"It's not like he's friggin Shakespeare himself," the young man muttered to himself. Not that he knew who Shakespeare was, but Hiro had told him that once. "All he writes are trashy romance novels. At least there's some heart to my music."

He felt somewhat vindicated, but still overly depressed.

"Still out here sulking, baka?" Yuki's voice came from directly behind him and almost startled the singer into jumping right off the balcony.

Refusing to let go of his pique right away, Shuichi just glared out at the sky. "So what if I am?"

There was a sigh and he suddenly found himself in Yuki's embrace. "You'll get sick and then you'll expect me to take care of you. Save us both a headache and come back inside. Who cares if your lyrics suck? People go to your concerts to hear you sing, not recite poetry."

It wasn't exactly a flowery apology, but Shuichi knew it was about as close as Yuki would ever get. He sighed again and leaned back against the taller man. "That's true, I guess."

"Of course. Now come inside. I'm sure we can find something better to do than compare writing styles." The suggestive tone was accompanied by a nipping kiss to his neck that made Shuichi shiver.

Mercurial creature that he was, the pink haired man laughed and slipped out Yuki's arms. "First you have to catch me!"

He was off like a shot, but knew he wouldn't get far.

Maybe he'd never learn to just shrug off Yuki's criticism, but as long as his lover always made up for it in the end, Shuichi figured it was worth it.
