Moonbeast

Prologue

A young boy with auburn hair slowly walked through an eerie forest. His lips parted for a sigh as he looked up towards the full moon. Atop his head he adorned black goggles. Over his torso laid a red t-shirt covered by a black and red mini jacket. His legs were covered by red pants.

This boy was Dan Kuso. He was walking through this forest to clear his head. Today was filled with trauma and loss.

He was enjoying the walk until the boy heard a twig snap. Whipping around, Dan caught a small glimpse at a large wolf-like monster. He screamed, but it was cut short as the creature pounced on him. Dan just slipped away and began running down the path. The beast gave chase, and after a while, caught up with Dan enough to give him a strong bite in the calf.

The boy screamed and crumpled to the ground. The wolf beast gave up on its prey and leapt away.

Dan felt sick. And strange. The light of the moon was slowly descending upon him, and as the white light caressed his skin, he began to change. Deep brown fur sprouted from his skin, his ears became pointed and traveled to the top of his head. His face was changing, morphing into that of a wolf's. His canines and every other tooth in his mouth grew and sharpened. His fingernails turned to claws and a furry tail sprouted from his behind. He quickly gained large amounts of muscles and giant paws ripped through the boy now turned beast's shoes. His hands turned in to something of very fat and paw-like fingers, each with long sharp claws. Finally, screams turned to growls as all of his human thoughts were replaced with the instincts of a wolf.

The beast rose from the ground and gave a blood-curdling howl to the silvery moon. He fell onto all fours and thundered away.

In the morning, a nude, sweating Dan was sleeping in a field with blood surrounding his lips woke up in pain. He realized the situation and scampered into the bushes.

He sat there, in a daze, still trying to recollect last night's memories. They were all in a blur, passing by quickly and quietly, but still effectively giving him a headache. All he could remember was extreme pain, then running, and then finally doing something in this field before the sun rose.

He shook his head clear and made his way back home through the bushes.

The young boy slid through the door and into his room to change and to sleep.

The beeping of his mom's alarm clock was heard by the boy ad Dan quickly changed into his pajamas and making himself look tired before leaving the room.

His mother stepped in front of him, coming out of the bathroom. She looked at him and questioned, "Why are you, of all people, up so early? It's only Saturday."

Dan nervously smiled and replied, "Dunno. I guess my alarm clock wanted me up!"

His mom sighed and they walked into the kitchen, officially starting the soon to be strange day.
