The violet skies seem to be shivering overhead; shaking, shifting, swirling with the demands of a whipping breeze that promises the fall of rain. Not too far away, the tree of life is silhouetted against the ravaged landscape, a maelstrom of chakra-infused, black clouds swirling around it's peak. Within those clouds, lightning streaks and the distant displeased rumble of thunder seems to shake the earth.

A violent backdrop, fitting for the events about to take place.

Sasuke didn't see it coming. All he feels is the sharp pain erupting in his chest. His lips part in a silent gasp, crimson hues widening a fraction before dropping down to see the blade of Madara's sword piercing his flesh. A soft whimper escapes as the sword is cruelly pulled out, allowing sanguine blood to seep out of the open wound and stain his shirt.

His knees tremble, struggling to hold his weight and his whole world grinds to halt as he slides to his knees. Deep tremulous breaths wrack his frame, as fingertips reach up to touch the gaping wound. Blood continues to flow, sluggishly trickling between his fingers, staining porcelain complexion.

"Sasuke!" His name is called out but it sounds too far away… muffled by the thrumming of his heart in his ears.

Features twist and contort as fresh wave of agony inflicts him, causing him to hunch over, resting his weight on his palms. Droplets of scarlet stain the dirt as blood drips from the corners of his mouth and the wound in his chest. It's warm; a contrast to the icy vice that grips him tightly.

'I can't die here' He repeats to himself, over an over like a mantra in his head. 'Nii-san, I can't..'

Sasuke coughs violently, choking for air as more blood pumps up his throat, spattering the floor and staining his lips.

'It hurts. It hurts so much. Help… I wanted to help.. to -'

His arms give out from underneath him, sending him sinking to the floor, lying on his stomach. He's so tired. So exhausted.

'Naruto.. are you okay? Finish this guy… your village needs you. I can't.. I'm sorry..'

Eyelids grow heavy as his breaths become more shallow, slowing down. The rain begins it's descent.

'Everyone… I'm sorry. Forgive me.'

'Forgive me.'
