Percy got in the car, slamming the door. He glanced behind him. "Everyone ready?" His passengers shouted "YES!" in unison as the Landy started trundling down Camp Half-Blood Hill.
They were headed to the Athenaeum, in London. Their parents had called in some favours and Annie had chosen the place. The gods had decided that after the horror the demigods had witnessed, they deserved to relax for a while. And by a while, they meant two months. They'd get to the airport, board the special plane Zeus had commandeered for them, fly a 7-hour 15-minute flight to Lisbon, Portugal, drive through Spain and France (staying in Portugal, Spain and France for a week each), then get the Eurotunnel into Folkestone, spend a day driving through the country, and finally making it to London in... say, since it was the 1st February today... plus 20, plus 2, meant it'd be the 23rd of February when they made it. They'd leave on the 1st of April and make it back to Long Island by the 23rd.
Percy looked back at his friends affectionately. He'd been given the Landy by his dad for this exact purpose, an old ambulance renovated into a suitable habitat for thirteen teenagers. They'd probably only spend about 3 days max in it in a row, but it was still pretty cool. There were two bunk beds right at the back. Percy and Jason had claimed the top ones of those, whilst Frank and Leo were underneath them. Then there was only one seat in the front, two of the normal three turned into fold out beds that Nico and Will had claimed. Calypso, Piper, Thalia, Annabeth, Hazel, Rachel and Reyna had all opted for the very top, where Hecate had lent them an expansion charm, so that was basically a TARDIS. They'd used the same technology Annabeth had used for her micro-cabins- colour changing curtains hung around the beds for privacy. There was also a table, a charging station for phones and iPads, a fridge, and of course a mini fishtank because Poseidon.
Currently, Nico and Will were curled up together in the middle of their beds, curtains pushed aside, watching a Netflix show. Jason was reading a book on Greek myths in case they needed to fight. Frank and Hazel were looking out the window. Leo chatted to Calypso while tinkering, Annabeth was plaiting Piper's hair, a book on architecture laid neatly on her bunk. Thalia was tapping away on her phone, presumably commanding the Hunters from afar. Reyna was napping, and Rachel was drawing.
Percy looked at his little tribe and couldn't help but feel protective. These kids were so broken. "Hey, who wants music? J, in a minute it's your shift."
"Got it, Perce," Jason called back, while looking up from his book.
Percy put on his Spotify playlist- thanks for the Premium Mom- and Glory and Gore swelled out. Reyna hummed along to it, even breaking into song at "We're in the ring and we're coming for blood."
Jason's taste in music was a little... different. The blond was a big fan of musicals, and had recently watched the newer Aladdin. So when Carpet Chase from the soundtrack came on, and Jason started humming along, exactly nobody was surprised.
However, Reyna enjoyed a more dangerous calibre. She played Black Widow by Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora, causing Leo to yell at her about Hazel and Frank.
They flipped him the bird.
When they made it to the airport, they got a special escort through customs and spent about half an hour checking out the shops. Frank bought some boiled sweets and Rachel had bought another notebook, whereas Annabeth got stuck in the book shop trying to decide what book to buy, eventually buying both.
The plane was pretty sweet, one of those private jets you hear about. Each teen had their name written neatly in cursive on bronze plates on the velvet seats. Percy and Annabeth sat together, Annabeth with her nose in a book and Percy drinking water.
The flight had pretty much been a dream, but the Portuguese airport was not, as Leo had been accused of carrying drugs (untrue). He had to be checked before they let him go.
They drove the Landy (luxury jets are fun) to their hotel, the Corinthia Hotel Lisbon. Some people fell asleep the instant they entered their rooms, Hazel included, some people went to check out the grounds- Nico, Annabeth, Will and Thalia and some people went to see what the Wi-Fi was. That's right. Calypso and Piper going on a grand quest together. Will
After an hour of shenanigans and finally getting the Wi-Fi, it was around 6:15, and the whole group crowded around Percy's iPad to Skype his mom. She asked how they were doing, were they eating, when were they having supper (they had planned for around 8.
When Percy's mom left they Skyped Will's mom, then Piper's dad, then Annie's little brothers, then Rachel's parents, who'd finally got their act together. When they were done, it was about time to dress for dinner.
(They were teenagers, okay.)
The girls all pretty much dressed in summer dresses, whereas the boys dressed in all kinds of madness, the main consensus was a white shirt and black trousers, maybe a tie. (Frank looked so cute.)
Percy and Annabeth paired the boys and girls into couples, sending Jason and Piper down first, then Frank and Hazel, then Leo (grinning madly as normal) and Calypso, then Nico and Will, then Rachel and Thalia, and Annabeth, Percy and Reyna went together.
Reyna, Leo, Annabeth and Calypso (being stuck on an island is a good time to learn languages) had to teach the others what the menu meant, but it was all delicious.
The teens fell into bed, falling asleep as soon as their heads touched the pillows.
This was a record of Day 1 of 59. I will be updating every Sunday.
