Trouble In Paradise
"Sorry you didn't really enjoy your dinner Nicky." Jackie told him as she crawled tiredly into bed.
"Oh it wasn't that bad, I mean, it's pizza, pizza is always good. I just prefer it to not be burned." He told her.
"That's how I like it, just a little burnt so the crust is nice and crispy, you not so much." Jackie said with a smile.
Nick and Jackie had taken the kids to a pizza restaurant they had never been to before for dinner that evening. Jackie had enjoyed the way they made the pizza, Nick did too just not as much. The kids had loved it though because Jackie had ordered them each a mini pizza off of the kids menu and the mini pizza's came with a free scoop of chocolate ice cream.
Jackie figured Karlie and Sloan would never eat a whole pizza by themselves even if it was a mini one so she had just ordered one to share and was prepared to just pay for one scoop of ice cream so each of them could have one but the restaurant had been nice enough to give them an extra scoop free of charge.
"Well goodnight honey." Jackie said as she gave him a kiss and then rolled over to go to sleep.
Nick then noticed something he hadn't earlier.
"Jackie, are we ok?" He asked.
"What do you mean?" Jackie asked as she rolled back over so she could look at him.
"You and I, are we ok?" He asked.
"Yes, why wouldn't we be?" She asked perplexed.
"Well you're not wearing your wedding ring and in most marriages that's a bad sign." He responded as he nodded towards her naked finger.
"Oh yeah, we're fine, my fingers were a little swollen when I woke up this morning so I took off all of my rings just so they wouldn't get stuck if my fingers swelled more. My ring is safely in my jewelry box." She assured him with a smile.
"Oh good, I thought I had done something stupid and you were pissed off." He said.
She laughed.
"Well, if you want to get technical about things it is your fault that my fingers were swollen." She told him with a grin.
He grinned back at her.
He laid his hand on her tummy with a smile, even though Jackie had not yet started showing. She had gained a few pounds but she didn't look like she was pregnant yet, if you didn't know she was pregnant it just looked like she needed to hit the treadmill a little harder.
"Goodnight Nicky." She told him.
"Night Hon." Nick responded.
He rolled over so he too could go to sleep, relieved that his marriage was still on track.
The End!
