I was dizzy when I woke up. My vision was blurred. Two robots stood in front of me, and GLaDOS was hanging from the ceiling.

"Oh thank God, you're alright." She said with relief.

"You know, being Caroline taught me a valuable lesson. I thought you were my greatest enemy, when all along you were my best friend." I felt warmness in my heart.

She continued, "The surge of emotion that shot through me when I saved your life taught me an even more valuable lesson: where Caroline lives in my brain."

A voice spoke through a speaker, "*beep* Caroline now listed as primary conscience."

"Hello Caroline." GLaDOS's voice was more human than ever.

"You know," she said "making Caroline my conscience taught me a more valuable lesson: that humanity is a gift, a gift which you helped me find. So now, I'm going to give you a gift."

I was unconscious for some time after that. I felt a pain in my neck, but I couldn't move my head.

"You're awake," GLaDOS said "your vocal cords were shriveled from disuse to the point where you couldn't speak if you tried; so I gave you medicine, performed surgery, and now your voice will be as good as new… in two to three weeks."

I sat up and rubbed the collar around my neck. "I made you a cake; it has ice cream in it for this occasion."

The two robots brought in a cake with a candle in it. "I feel like today should be my birthday, but I don't have a mouth to blow out the candle. Could you make a wish for me dear?" She tilted her head and waited for a response.

I nodded my head yes. I closed my eyes I wish that GLaDOS and I could be friends on the surface. I blew out the candle.

"Since you are the only one here that can actually eat," GLaDOS said as the floor lifted beneath me "you'll have to eat it at your home."

I was elevated to the surface and found my way home.
