One Step Up
Logan had seen the new student around the halls of the mansion, but he had never spoken to her before, she didn't seem like the kind that would talk very much anyway.
He was in the kitchen, brooding over a cooling up of black coffee and a newspaper when she came in. She waltzed into the kitchen looking as pretty as the sunrise.
Her mahogany hair was pulled away from her creamy face and long inky black lashes that were free of any traces of makeup showcased her stone grey eyes, they didn't need any. Her pouty lips were unpainted but her long tapered fingers were capped with fire engine red polish.
"Hello" She said cheerfully as she poured milk into a tall glass from the cupboard. "Hi," Logan said slowly as he watched her over the rim of his coffee mug.
"We haven't met yet" She said almost remorsefully as she set her glass down onto the marble counters with a clink as she ushered herself on long dancer's legs to the empty seat across from him and sat down gracefully.
"I'm Ginny Winston," She said as she held out a hand. Logan took it but still cagily watched her. "Logan" He said shortly before he shuffled the day-old paper and read the same line five times over.
He could suddenly smell her perfume on the chilly morning air, something fruity but tangled with something deadly dark. When he looked up over the front on the paper, he wasn't surprised at all to find her out there.
Logan threw away the last cold dregs of his coffee into the gleaming sink and chased it down with a blast of cold water and left the empty kitchen. He had just stepped out of the room when he felt an unusually warm gust of air at his back. As he turned around, he caught a glimpse at the glistening soft material of the skirt that Ginny had been wearing.
When he turned back around he stifled a yelp when he saw Storm standing in front of him looking very pretty in a poppy colored skirt and a white tank top. "Good morning," She said a little groggily. Logan opened his mouth to safe something but she waved it away with her hand and pointed a finger into the kitchen. "Coffee"
She looked more alive as she poured the percolated coffee into a clean mug. She took a deep drink of it and sighed whipped at her mouth with the back of her hand. "So what's up?" She asked as she looked up at him. "What do you know about Ginny Winston?"
Storm seemed to think for a minute. "Ginny...Winston. Yeah I know, she's really smart" Logan nodded "Yeah but where did she come from? I never saw her come in, and no one ever really talks about her"
Storm shrugged "Don't know why, she's a nice girl" Logan watched Storm's back with intensity as she turned her back to him and finished off the coffee in her mug.
"Class will be starting soon, so you might want to get dressed for your students," She said as she eyed his roughed jeans and white wife-beater. "Yeah sure whatever," He said lazily as he walked out of the kitchen for the second time, but for some reason, he couldn't get Ginny off his mind.
