22. Agony
There were many different definitions of "agony", the most common definition had to do with unbearable pain, usually of the physical sort. And Tsunayoshi Sawada was in agony. His pain was emotional, though at times, it seemed physical as well.
He was 26 years old.
And he had no one.
For the first time in over 10 years, since the day that Reborn appeared in front of him when he was 15 years old, he was alone.
Reborn had left first. Regardless of how he acted, the Hitman was a chauvinist, and when Haru and Kyoko were being threatened, he handled the situation. Unfortunately giving his life up in the process.
Sadly, Haru had given her life for Kyoko in the same attack.
Kyoko had been unable to live with the Survivor's Guilt and she left. Tsuna hadn't heard from her in 2 years, and he was sure that she was living a happy (safe) life somewhere. Without the Mafia.
Ryohei fell into a depression after Kyoko left, and when he was attacked by an enemy family one afternoon...he just didn't fight back. They were forced to have a closed casket. Kyoko didn't come to the funeral.
Chrome and Mukuro died at the same time. To this day Tsuna wasn't sure what had happened, how someone managed to sneak up on the two most talented Illusionists he had ever known. But their bodies had never been found. They buried two empty caskets, next to each other, like Mukuro and Chrome would have wanted.
Lambo fell into a bad crowd at his school, a crowd that I-Pin wasn't able to pull him out of, and he died from a drug overdose just three weeks before his 16th birthday. That had been a difficult funeral to attend, no member of the Bovino Famiglia had shown up at that funeral.
The Vongola cut ties with the Bovino less than a week later.
I-pin pulled away from the mafia after her best friend's death and returned to China. Last Tsuna heard, the martial artist was running a Dojo in the mountains. She wrote, and called, from time to time. But she would never return to Japan, or Italy.
Kyoya was assigned a mission, and he never came back. Technically he's missing. But the Vongola Cloud Ring was sent to him in the mail, so Tsuna was sure that his cloud guardian was dead. Though he hadn't told anyone else that.
The remaining Guardians had a private Memorial for Kyoya, though to the public, they pretended that Kyoya was just away on a long term mission.
Less than a week after Kyoya's memorial, Takeshi (who had earned a reputation, and had more enemies than any of the guardians save Mukuro and Kyoya) had escorted Tsuna somewhere, and had been shot by a Sniper. He was killed instantly.
And then Hayato, the ever loyal friend, had pulled the car around to pick Tsuna up for a meeting with Dino...only there was a bomb under the car, and as soon as he started it, it exploded.
Tsuna couldn't help but hope that Hayato had died quickly.
The Vongola Mansion used to be full of life and activity. There was always someone running around, laughing, talking, fighting; but now it was empty, and lifeless.
The only people still living there were Tsuna and Fuuta.
And the ghosts of the friends who left them behind.
