C.C.'s fingers softly ran through Lelouch's dark locks as her golden eyes rested on her lover's sleeping face nestled in her lap.
The black, silk cloth of her empress' dress obviously contrasted to his white emperor's robes -- although they did have a similar design despite the color -- and the silk cloth of her dress was probably the thing that made her lap really comfortable.
Yet Lelouch never really seemed to complain when he somehow fell asleep in the Britianian gardens using her lap as a pillow. C.C. silently wondered if he was at peace with her, lying in the garden in the mid-afternoon sun, despite knowing the fact that he would probably die in four months by Suzaku's hand. That is, if their plan was successful; the the plan they made two months ago after their little adventure in C-World which resulted in them killing Charles.
It was a plan so that there really would be world peace, although C.C. highly doubted that the rest of the world would realize that, or that those who survived would tell them the true reason why Lelouch, the 99th emperor of Britannia, would appear to be "enemy of the world."
She knew that it was mostly Suzaku and Jeremiah's idea for them to have some alone time together without their presence, and while there may be a lot of people in Britannia who would want to kill Lelouch for some reason, they knew that the two of them could take of themselves.
Lelouch had the power of Geass", although his methods may have seemed cruel, while C.C. couldn't really be hurt. She did remember Lelouch asking her a while ago, as he lay in her lap under the spring sun, if she felt pain whenever she got shot, stabbed, or received any other injury -- and she had received quite a few of them in the past two years.
The question slightly surprised C.C., since concern for her safety was a rarity, although she supposed it was only recently that Lelouch started to show concern and love for her.
Yes, there had been signs of it before his trip into her memories, when C.C. lost her memories of her Geass, and their time together when she had reverted back her old childlike self who had been a servant to a master who often beat her.
Perhaps these moments when she and Lelouch lay in the Britannian garden under the warm sun were really the only times of peace C.C. had known, even if she knew that it would probably only last a couple more months, especially if his plans were successful.
Even after being immortal for over 400 years, C.C. realized that she should treasure and enjoy the time she had with Lelouch; after all, humans had limited lifespans.
Her golden eyes met his lavender ones, and in the back of her mind, C.C. wondered how long Lelouch had been awake, and what he had been dreaming about; perhaps the peace he had hoped to get.
"Do you want to go back to the palace?" C.C. asked softly, momentarily pausing from running her fingers through his dark locks that he had obviously inherited from his mother; something that Lelouch had once said that he enjoyed.
"Hmm, let's stay like this for a while longer," Lelouch replied, glancing at the blue sky and vaguely noticing his witch nod in agreement.
For now, this was really the only peace that they were able to have, and he was going enjoy every minute that he had with his witch.
