A cold rain had fallen that night
A cold rain had fallen that night. He remembered as much. He remembered everything about that night all too well, and there were times when he simply wanted to forget.
There had been screaming, lots and lots of screaming. The people of the city had panicked. Children cried for their mothers as light filled the sky and the terror had begun. He recalled that, too, and it always brought tears to his eyes and an ache to his heart.
He remembered the horrors, the blood of thousands of innocent people splashing warm onto his face, the night the lights went out.
