This is a FAR darker take on Breath of the Wild. I apologize for the small length of the prologue, this was meant to give a general idea hopefully of the feel of the story. I will say this right now, this will have drastic changes from the original Breath of the Wild. If you're not about that, I'd say this is not the story for you. If you ARE a fan of things like that, I do hope you'll give the story a shot. As we say in the books, The Legend of Zelda is Nintendo's property, not my own.
Also Link's thoughts are in italics.

The one hope. The one to end the fatal calamity. The final champion was finally awakening from his century-long slumber of healing. A simple voice, very feminine in nature, called out to him. Alas, the awakening young adult wouldn't recognize it. His memory had faded throughout the 100 years he had slumbered. Regardless, he woke up, very confused. The only thing he could gather from the woman's voice was his name; Link.
"Ugh… where am I? What is this place?" He thought, as his head pounded. "Ugh… my head… now, how am I going to get out of this place?" Right on cue, the voice was telling him to grab something called a Sheikah Slate. "Whatever that means." Regardless, he grabbed this Sheikah Slate, and turned on the screen to find, simply put, nothing of use. Of course. "I think I expected this. It looks like some sort of junk to begin with. Now… to find my way out of here." He simply looked around for a door, with a strange eye symbol. Now the voice was telling him to put the back of the slate up against the door. He simply did as such, and the door opened. "Uhh… okay, maybe this thing isn't so useless after all, at least if there's more of these doors around."
When he stepped over into the next room, he found… mostly darkness. Very dim light poured from wherever he was slumbering. Near the open doorway, there was a skeleton, holding some sort of cloth with wooden handles. "Some sort of gliding device? Strange… I may as well take it. It seems to be in somewhat decent shape." As he lifted it over his shoulder, a strange, cerulean droplet dropped from it. It naturally gravitated towards the Sheikah Slate, and landed right into it's eye. It's screen brightened, which Link immediately noticed. On the screen, a map of outside the shrine lit up with color. "A map? This thing really is more useful than I thought!"
A bit deeper into the room, he found a chest. Inside was a small metal knife, along with some clothing. Link didn't exactly expect to find those, but he appreciated it nonetheless. At the other end of the room, stood a doorway. With another one of those doors. "I hope this is the way out. This place is eerie…"
As he opened the door, he simply saw more darkness, with a very faint red moonlight. "This… is creepy. Something feels like it's… went wrong. Very wrong." Regardless, Link pushed on, using his Sheikah Slate as a light source. He saw no signs of life, just desolate forests and grasslands, at least from what little he could see from the hill the shrine was on. As he walked down the hill, he swore he saw something move in the corner of his eye. "What was that? Is it a person? Is it at least something alive?" He yelled, trying to catch the attention of whatever it was that moved. It didn't give him any sort of response, albeit he swore he heard rustling. "This keeps getting creepier… What even happened here?" Link pressed on, eager for answers, or at least to find someone who could explain what was going on. Only time would tell what he would discover…
