Long Nights

After the events of RE0 and RE1, Barry, Chris and Rebecca prepare to face off to Umbrella again...

Chapter 1

Rebbecca stared up at the ceiling. She couldn't sleep. Again. It wasn't like anyone would be surprised that she couldn't sleep after what she had endured only a few weeks ago. What she and the rest of the S.T.A.R.S. had uncovered. It felt like years ago with all that had happened since that night. Every time she closed her eyes that was all she could see. Horror. Those dead, shuffling creatures and him. Billy Coen. When she'd first found him, she had been certain he must have been what the report had said, a killer who couldn't be trusted. But she had gotten to know him as they struggled to survive together. He had saved her life numerous times, she couldn't believe it had been so hard to say goodbye to him, but it had to be done if he wanted to survive. Now, he haunted her memory as much as the horrible creatures Umbrella had spawned did. God, those things, she still couldn't get her head around it, like it was all some sort of nightmare and she was going to wake up and go to work and they'd all laugh about how completely ridiculous it was. But it was the truth, the T virus that turns humans into horrible monsters and affects everything it touches. And that leech thing... Rebecca shuddered, even though her room wasn't cold. Now, they had formed a plan, her and the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members. Well, accept for Brad Vickers, the Alpha team pilot who had left the Alphas to die by flying off in their only means of escape, he fled town as soon as he realised that Umbrella would be after them. Of course they would, they knew what they knew. But her, Jill, Chris and Barry had decided, over many late night secret meetings of coffee at ecah others apartments, that Chris and Barry would soon go to Europe and she, little medic Rebecca would go with them, while Jill stayed behind in Raccoon and tried to get some dirt on Umbrella's activities here. They had started treating her more like a 'grownup' member of the team since the incident, Rebecca figured it was probably because she had more than proven she could handle herself after the events on the train. Rebecca sighed and turned over, letting her eyes glaze over her small but homey bedroom in her apartment. She was leaving tomorrow, she was ready for it to. When she had first come to Raccoon, it had been her first apartment, her new life, but now the city only reminded her of how close Umbrella were to them, and what they could do. She felt sorry for Jill, having to stay behind. She didn't know about the guys, but she for one couldn't wait to get out of the city. Especially after the RPD had been getting more and more reports of attacks from the 'Cannibal killers', something didn't add up, that was for sure. The mansion and training facility had been destroyed completely, so what was happening? Chris seemed to think that the virus was getting stronger and leaking into the city. All the more reason to be elsewhere. Of course, Rebecca wanted to help the poeple, she didn't even want to think about more people getting turned into those mindless flesh-eaters, but they had tried to tell people, Chief Irons first, anyone who would listen, but of course in the light of day and the saftey of their uniforms they didn't believe them, why should they? It sounds crazy: 'Oh, yes the reason why 8 of our team members died was because we found a creepy mansion full of zombies and horrible creatures all created by the company that built up this fair city'. S.T.A.R.S. were dismissed immediately, and the public assured that nothing was going on and that they have put a new team on the 'cannibal murders'. The people will believe what they want to believe she supposed. She just didn't know if they were believing the right thing...
