Goliath came striding proudly from the southern hill, daring his frightened enemies to fight him. He was willing and ready – or so he thought – to fight against the army of the children of God, and so sure that given the chance, he could easily be victorious over them. His huge limbs seemed to be made for fighting and winning in wars, as well as for causing ruin, which he was currently intent upon doing to the children of Israel. As his armor glinted in the sunlight like it was on fire, his great height cast a dark shadow of huge proportions over the land. Yet it was his eyes that truly darkened the scene as he glared toward the camp of the Israelites with eyes full of wrath.
It was only one Israelite – and this Israelite was not even a soldier, but simply a mere boy – who was not afraid of this commanding giant. It was this lad, David, who boldly stepped up to fight the giant, Goliath. He had faith beyond a shadow of a doubt that this battle was in God's hands, and the Lord would make his people victorious over the giant and over the Philistine army.
The first half of this is something that I had to write for English, inspired by Timothy Dwight's poem, "David and Goliath." So I wrote the second half, polished it all up, and posted it on here for you guys to enjoy so you knew that I hadn't quit writing or anything (school's just taking up a monsterous amount of time).
