Ravenclaw
You should have been in Ravenclaw.
The thought comes unbidden, unwelcome, but you can't deny the simple truth of it. You don't belong in Gryffindor. Anyone can see that. If you did, he wouldn't be with her. You would've walked right up to him and snogged him until his freckles fell off.
But you didn't, did you? You had more than five years to gather up your supposed courage, and just do it. How hard could it have been? She did it – her, the biggest stereotypical bottle-blonde idiot in the history of Gryffindor. And now she has him.
You're nothing like her – you never have been – and, up until now, you've been proud of that. She could never be in Ravenclaw, you've known that much since the first time you met her in First Year. She's always been high pitched and giggly and girly, and you've always suspected her "Gryffindor bravery" is nothing more than blatantly rash actions and sheer stupidity. But she's got him, hasn't she? So that must work out on some level.
Why can't you be more like here? It's what he wants, isn't it? Why the bloody hell are you cursed with the ability to think logically? To talk yourself out of taking risks? Some Gryffindor you are.
Maybe that's what bravery really is, leaping without looking to see where you'll land – if you'll land. You could very well just hit the ground and never wake up.
And maybe that's why you can't be brave, because you realize that. Because you understand the possible repercussions, search for them, and sometimes, the cons just outweigh the pros. It's something any Ravenclaw could – would – see. Yes, you should definitely have been Sorted into Ravenclaw. You'd expected to, even before you got to school, as soon as you'd read about it in Hogwarts: A History. Wasn't it obvious? You belong in Ravenclaw.
But you don't, a little voice in the back of your head decrees. If you weren't in Gryffindor – if you hadn't met your best friend and they friend you wanted to be so much more. Voldemort would have been back long before now, wouldn't he? And the boys would have been dead so many times over, if not for you. Do you even realize how much better off the world is because you're in Gryffindor?
Because any Ravenclaw would. And none of them, save for the dreamy girl you've grown to understand, could ever have done any of the things you've done.
So you decide that it will happen. You will make your feelings known. You'll walk straight up to him and snogged the freckles off his face.
Not now, of course, because he's with her, and you're no slag. But you're not an idiot, either. You're smart enough to know that she's not permanent. You'll just have to go through the temporary hell of them being together – you hope. And so you'll wait, you suppose, biding your time until he's free again and you can make your move. And you will, even if it takes up every once of courage you have, even if you die trying.
Because you don't belong in Ravenclaw. You never did. Anyone can see that.
You are smarter than any Ravenclaw, yes. But you're also braver than every one of them.
Ta da! I don't own Harry Potter, big suprise there. So, I just felt like writing this. I've also got a Romione plotline in my head. It's got Ron sick of Lavender and an anorexic Hermione. Should I write it? Oui ou non?
Tell me down below - and review while you're at it!
