"Leave the past behind, Just walk away /When it's over, and the heart breaks. and the cracks begin to show"

I am a laughing stock now, in the old circles. Lestrade wants to believe, but he's bound by the official stance not to do anything substantive.

I know what he said in the end. It replays most nights and sometimes through waking dreams as well. The admission, the tears, the fall.

All wrong, all of it.

I will keep digging through this morass of manufactured backstory and coverup until I clear his name.

Of all he was and was not, above all he was truth.

Now that Moriarty is dead, so much of the trail is cold, but I have seen the holes in the story break, and the fissures letting the light of what he really was have come back to the surface.

The worst betrayal I've perpetrated in my entire life was when I doubted him, and I'll not make that mistake again.

I'll not let anyone make that mistake again.

A/N: Inspired by the song Cracks by Freestylers. Leading quote is from that song as well.
