FRIDAY NIGHT MIGHT

STATE SEMIFINAL

(SEVERAL MONTHS AGO)

"This is disaster time for Coach Dionysus and the Goode High School Romans. It would appear that star quarter back, Jake Mason, is going to have to leave the field with an injured arm." I announced to the packed stadium. This is a huge game. The fans stomped their feet on the bleachers and the roars of the crowd were deafening. "Senior, Jake Mason, has really led this team to the semifinal and it's a shame to see him go." The fans were getting very emotional. Football is everything in this area and Goode High School is one of the top teams. "Yes, it would seem that freshman quarterback, Percy Jackson, is coming off the bench. This is his first appearance with the team. Let's see if number seven can get it done out there."

The teams lined up after taking Mason off the field. "There is just under one minute remaining in the fourth quarter here folks and Goode are down by six on their own forty yard line. It's going to take nothing short of a miracle by Percy Jackson to take home a win tonight."

Percy yelled out orders to his team mates and snapped the ball. "Jackson has it with tons of space. He throws it for a short gain." Jackson rushed to get everyone together. "This is it. They're going to have time for one more play. It's do or die and the opposing fans are all yelling die."

Jackson snapped the ball. "Jackson drops back. He needs to look long. Grover Underwood has miles of space. Jackson lets it fly." Everything went in slow motion as the ball flew through the air and landed in Underwood's arms. "It's caught by Underwood in the end zone! Touchdown, Romans! The Goode High Romans are going to the state championship!" The stadium erupted as fans flew out of their seats and charged the field. Grover and Percy were lifted on someone's shoulders in the end zone.

"I cannot believe what I have just seen. Despite everything, Percy Jackson managed to throw a long pass to freshman receiver Grover Underwood. With a duo as talented as Jackson and Underwood, we may be looking at a whole new Roman offense. Percy Jackson sure has a bright future ahead of him."
