Dr. Elizabeth Weir breezed into her office, heading straight for her laptop to finish up a report she had started before having to break up two scientists fighting over an ancient device. She did have to admit that Radek Zelenka ended up dealing with the brunt of it but still she was called in to mediate the situation to a resolution. It involved arranging specific times for each scientist to study the device. Elizabeth often wondered how her scientific team could be so juvenile; however thinking about who was in charge maybe it made sense.
Finally, getting back to what she wanted to be doing, Elizabeth settled in to be productive until something else interrupted her. Just as she started typing, Chuck announced, "Unscheduled Off-world activation."
With a sigh Elizabeth started toward the control room only to hear the shrill voice of Dr. Rodney Mckay yell out over the radio, "This is McKay to Atlantis we're coming in hot!" The shield was immediately lowered with the IDC coming through and Rodney and Teyla ran through almost side by side.
Elizabeth watched as they moved out of the way while still keeping watch for their other teammates. She began to descend the stairs cautiously, wondering when the others would come through. After a tense moment the 'gate sent another person through. It was Ronon.
Unfortunately, a mere second later the gate shutdown without giving up the final member of the team. Ronon looked to his right as if expecting someone to be there and seemed surprised that he was alone. Mckay took it upon himself to figure out what was happening and yelled, "Where the hell is Sheppard!"
Teyla stepped up and put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down but also looked toward Ronon for an explanation. Ronon simply looked back and said, "He was right with me a second ago."
Elizabeth snapped back into her role as commander, turned to Chuck and said, "Dial back the planet immediately and call the Marines on standby." She then turned to Ronon and asked, "What happened?" As the 'gate lit up with the dialed symbols Ronon gave his terse explanation, "We were attacked, looked like Genii, we retreated and held them off while Teyla and Mckay dialed the 'gate, then we ran like hell."
This unfortunately did not explain why Sheppard had not come through the 'gate. As the 'gate connected she sent the rest of Sheppard's team through along with the team of Marines.
All of them seemed concerned in their own ways. Rodney was all bluster, ranting about Sheppard being in trouble again. Teyla was calm but it was easy to spot the worry in her eyes over her teammate. Ronon just looked pissed. Elizabeth watched them go through hoping they would come back with good news but she had a feeling that this day would not end well.
