Summary: a short one-shot that reveals the true meaning behind the anime series. in other words, a closer look between the relationship of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru. a cute story where Sesshoumaru realizes that he cares about Inuyasha, that he wants to protect him and most of all...love him. read enjoy review.

Inuyasha is battling himself because there is two parts of him. he thinks his quest in life is to become a full demon to have a connection with his father. but really his quest in life is to find love within himself and where he belongs in the world. inuyasha wants to be a full demon because he feels like he has to prove himself worthy of being accepted in the family. he has a step-brother named Sesshoumaru who thinks very little of him. the conflict between the two brothers is that Sesshoumaru is mad with Inuyasha because he thinks that Inuyasha and Izayoi took INuTaishou away from him. on the flip side, Inuyasha is mad at Sesshoumaru because esshoumaru doesn't acknowledge him for anything. He thinks Inuyasha is worthless.
Before Inuyasha was born, InuTaishou asked Sesshoumaru a very important question: "My son, is there someone that you want to protect?" With this, Sesshoumaru doesn't understand what love is and why love is what made InuTaishou to be a powerful warrior.
Sesshoumaru was always confused on what true power is. He knew his father to be very powerful, but what he didn't understand was that love and compassion was the source of true power.
Since SEsshouamru was bent on trying to conquer the world with the swords of destruction that his father possessed, InuTaishou knew that if Sesshoumaru got ahold of the swords, the world would face sudden doom and devastation. Being the wise man that he is, InuTaishou gave Sesshoumaru the Sword of Life.
InuTaishou also knew that Inuyasha was going to be a compassionate and caring half-demon like Izayoi, he gave Inuyasha the sword that could destroy. Instead of trying to destroy the world, INuyasha, with his partial human blood, used the sword of destruction to save people's lives.
Knowing this, Sesshoumaru became jealous of Inuyasha, not only because Inuyasha has many traits of InuTaishou that Sesshoumaru wished he had, but becasue of the fact that Inuyasha is able protect is closest friends. Sesshoumaru saw through Inuyasha that true power lies within loving himself, being able to love others and protect them. The one person that Sesshoumaru really wants to love and protect, is his little half-brother Inuyasha.
