'Arthur, I have to tell you something!' Merlin said, shifting nervously by the door as Arthur sat at his desk doing some intensely boring paperwork.

'What is it?' Arthur asked, eyes not even bothering to leave the paper.

'Promise me you won't get mad, okay?' Merlin continued, making sure the door behind him was unlocked in case he needed to get make a quick escape.

'Calm down, Merlin.' Arthur said, finally facing his manservant, trying not to show any other emotion than the usual.

'No, this is a really big thing!' Merlin insisted, fighting the urge to pace in frustration.

'It's okay, Merlin. I know you have magic.' Arthur said soothingly, feeling happy that Merlin had come to him to reveal such a huge secret.

'Excuse me?' Merlin screamed eyes wide as he clutched at his chest.

'That wasn't what you were going to tell me?' Arthur asked confused.

'No!' Merlin yelled again in total panic mode. 'You know?'

'Of course! I'm not an idiot!'

'You nearly gave me a heart attack, you prat!'

'Get over it!' Arthur waved off. 'What did you want to tell me?'

'Uther has five princesses in the hall that all want to marry you!' Merlin said in rush, waiting for his reaction.

'What?' Arthur screamed, hand to his heart.

'Doesn't feel so good, does it?' Merlin countered, stalking out of the room just in time. Behind him, a goblet clattered against the closing door.
