In My Daughter's Eyes
by Isabel
The woman rose from the armchair where she'd been reading. Now the book laid up-side-down on the coffee table, a cup of tea next to it.
The woman pushed her bushy, brown hair out of her eyes and smiled happily at her sleeping daughter.
She picked up the little girl, who opened her eyes sleepily before snuggling up close to her shoulder. Hermione steadied her head before starting up the stairs.
Well up in her daughter's bedroom, she put her in her bed and sat down next to it. Then, while stroking the hair of her little girl, she started to sing and as she did so, she could swear she saw a smile playing around the corner of her daughter's mouth.
In
my daughter's eyes I am a hero In my daughter's
eyes everyone is equal
I am strong and wise and I know no
fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I
see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes
Darkness turns to light and the world is at
peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives
me strength when I'm weak And when she wraps her hand around my
finger It's
hanging on when your heart has had enough In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
I find reason to believe
In my
daughter's eyes
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a
little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's giving more when
you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my
daughter's eyes
A
reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and
someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see
how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's
eyes
As she finished the song with a long tone, she felt her husband's arms, strong from all the hours at the Quidditch pitch, wrap safely around her. Harry planted a kiss at her neck and murmured loving words in her ear. Hermione exhaled happily and let herself be turned around and pulled into a hug. She was with her family and she could never feel as safe and loved as when she was with them.
