"It is storming." Astoria said, her long fingers outstretched, feeling the cool chills of the droplets onto her hand. She looked over at her husband, observing his reaction to her words. His eyes dropped to the ground as he nodded, barely paying her any mind. She felt an illogical rush of anger at his reaction, and she stopped walking. "Draco." She said, her tone sharp and cutting.
Draco looked at her, his eyes the same color as the clouds above them. "What do you want, Astoria?" He asked, his voice exasperated. "I have already given him up for you. If you wish for me to be happy with my decision, I cannot." He straightened his silver tie and nodded to her. "Now, we mustn't miss the wedding. It would not become of the Malfoys to do such."
Astoria took a breath, calming herself. She studied her husband, her green eyes not missing his sunken eyes, his thin face, or his sickly pale skin. She scoffed silently, her hand curling into her palm and cutting the flesh. "I want to have your heart, Draco. I have your body and your blood, but not your heart!" She hissed, her eyes narrowing.
"You shall never have my heart. It is not yours. It is not mine to give." He snarled, turning to face her in a fit of anger.
"He is getting married, Draco! As you already are!" She said, her hand raising up in exasperation. "When will you realize he doesn't love you anymore!"
The road was silent except for a soft, almost dying sound of a hand hitting flesh.
"You will never speak of him again. You will not mention this to anyone. And more importantly, you will not speak of love to me. I have no love for you. I have no love for our son. I have love for him, and that is all I love. Do you understand?" Draco whispered, his tone sharp and cutting.
Astoria held her bruised cheek in her hand, her eyes wide and filled with shock. Finally, she nodded slowly, her face flushed. "I understand."
Draco looked at her with cold eyes. "Good." He nodded to her, his movement jerky and harsh. He took her hand and threaded their fingers together. "We have wasted time. We must hasten to get there on time."
"Of course." Astoria said softly, her eyes downcast. She bit her lip and was tempted to remove her hand from his limp, loose grasp but did not. "Is this all we will be?" She asked him, her heart pounding wildly inside her chest. "Only a loveless marriage?" She blinked away the tears forming in her eyes, scolding herself for the unrelentless feeling of being trapped and chained to the man beside her.
"Yes."
