Just to clarify the ages before the story: Sophia is 4 and Michael is 2 years old
"Sophia do you want to help me bake cookies for daddy's birthday tomorrow"
"Oh cookies yum!" Sophia said "Can i lick the bowl?"
"Only if you help me making the cookies"
Emma started to show Sophia how to bake the cookies.
"See Sophia when you scoop the flour in the measuring cup you have to scrap the top to level it out" Emma threw the cup of flour into the bowl "You want to try Emma said as her daughter nodded. Sophia butter knife and leveled it and threw it into the bowl. After all the ingredients were in the bowl Emma handed her the spoon and Sophia started to slowly stir the batter, Emma started to help her so the batter would be ready. They started to scoop balls of batter and rolled them between their hands to make perfect sized balls and placed them on baking sheet. When Emma turned around to place the filled sheet in the oven Sophia would snatch some raw batter from the bowl and put it in her mouth. Emma knew she was doing that, it didn't take a genius to see all the batter smeared around her mouth.
"Mommy can we decorate the cookies for daddy's birthday?"
"Yes you may you just have to wait for your brother to wake from his nap so he can help you also"
As the cookies baked they started to mix the cake batter for the cake and by the time the cookies were done the cake batter was all ready for the oven.
Ding "Cookies are done, now Sophia i want to teach you that you shouldn't open the oven without mine or your fathers help because this oven is really hot and can burn you"
"Ok mommy" as Sophia watched her mom pull the sheet of baked cookies and took them off the baking sheet and placed them on the cooling rack. Then Emma placed the cake into the oven to start baking.
Michael was up from his nap and the cake and cookies were done baking and cooling and was time for the kids to decorate them. Emma made some different colored icings and got the sprinkles and Emma helped them decorate it.
The next morning Will was still sleeping when Emma was decorating, when she finished she climbed back into bed and placed some kisses on Will's neck to wake him up
"I love being woken up by you instead of an annoying alarm clock"
"Well i figured since it was your birthday you should get woken up in a very special way"
Will whined "why can't it be my birthday everyday then so i can get woken up that way"
"Because it won't be special if i did it everyday, you need something to look forward to on your birthday" Emma chuckled as she kissed his lips.
After about 10 minutes they heard giggling and footsteps approaching outside their bedroom door, then they heard a little knock on their door.
"Who is it?" Emma asked
"Its Sophia and Michael, can we come in?"
"Come on in"
Sophia and Michael ran in and jumped on the bed and yelled "Guess what day is today daddy!"
"I have no idea what today is why don't you remind me" Will sarcastically said
"Daddy your silly it's your birthday who forgets their own birthday!"
"I guess i do"
"Daddy we made you a cake and cookies yesterday and decorated them!"
"Oh really why did you make me cake and cookies?"
"Because we love you daddy!" Sophia grinned "Mommy also helped us"
Will looked at Emma "Is that right did mommy help you guys bake yesterday, i guess i should thank mommy" Will leaned in and kissed Emma and before he knew it the kids were interrupting their kiss as they squeezed into the middle of them.
The rest of the day Will, Emma, Sophia and Michael just hung out ate some cake and cookies and opened gifts. Will loved spending time with his wife and kids to him that was the best birthday present he could have, was just having the best family a man could ever ask for.
