I've decided to give myself a one-day writers challenge to see how many never-written-before pairs I can write about. So here's No. 1: Alice Longbottom and Mcgonagall.
"Alright, class, today we are going to be practicing cross-species switches. For your first task, you will be transforming guinea-fowl into guinea pigs. Remember class, this will surely be on your OWLs, so it's very important that you have it down pat." Mcgonagall announced before charming fowl onto each desk, one per person. She sat down at her desk and began to grade the papers her fourth year students had handed in about transfiguration hexes. She loved hearing the sound of young minds practicing around her. This was her first year as Head of Gryfindor House, and she felt fresh and revived, if not a little nervous. Professor Merrythought had finnally retired, leaving the position open at the end of last year, and Dumbledore had granted it to her.
"Felmuto! Felmuto! Felmuto!" Frank Longbottom really was a genius, and transfiguration was most definitely a strong point for him. So why was he struggling with the simple spell? Minerva looked up; aha! He was distracted by the girl he was sitting next to; Alice. She too was a very good student, but she seemed to be off in space at the moment, chewing some strange colored gum and blowing bubbles with it. She wasn't even trying to make her bird into a rodent.
Minerva smiled at them, she would let them slack off for a moment. They were going to have to catch up on it later and she didn't want to make them break their happy day quite yet, she would wait until after class. "Alright class! Good work today, pack up. Alice and Frank, see me before you leave, will you?"
Alice looked a little scared, Mcgonagall wondered how often she got into trouble anyway, rarely, she guessed, she would go easy on these too. Once everyone else had left, and Alice and Frank were stationary in their seats, she started on them. "You two are two of the best students in your year! You have so much potential! If I see you letting entire class periods go to waste, like today, ever again, you will have double detentions on a weekly basis with me for the rest of the school year! Especially at such a time of crisis, don't you understand how important it is to study! Now, I want to see perfect guinea pigs tomorrow in class, understood? Practice tonight."
Frank looked intimidated, as the desired effect, Alice blew a lime-green bubble and nodded.
