Love Story: Percabeth Version
We were both twelve when I first saw you.
I close my eyes and the flashback starts.
I'm standing there, on a wooden porch of summer air.
I see the sun, see the camp, the orange shirts.
I see you passed out on a bench.
You just drool, little did I know…
That you were Perseus, you were throwing pebbles
And my mother said "stay away from Annabeth!"
And I was crying on the porch
Begging you please don't go…
And I said…
"Perseus, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess.
It's a love story, Percy, just say yes."
So I sneak out to the sea shore to see you.
We keep quiet, because we're dead if they knew.
So close your eyes,
Escape this camp for a little while.
Oh, Ohh.
'Cause you were Perseus, I was Athena's daughter
And my mother said "stay away from Annabeth!"
But you were everything to me.
I was begging you, please don't go…
And I said…
"Perseus, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess.
It's a love story, Percy, just say yes."
"Perseus, save me, she's trying to tell me what to feel,
This love is difficult, but it's real.
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess.
It's a love story, Percy, just say yes.
Oh, Ohh.
I got tired of waiting,
Wondering if you were ever coming back.
My hope in you was fading,
When I left you at Mt. St. Helens' wrath.
And I said…
"Perseus, save me, I've been feeling so alone.
I keep waiting, for you but you never come.
Is this in my head? For once I don't know what to think."
Percy kneeled to the ground, pulled out a ring, and said…
"Marry me, Annabeth, you'll never have to be alone.
I love you, and that's all I really know.
I reasoned with your mom-you'll pick out a white dress.
It's a love story, Anna, just say…yes…"
Oh, Ohhh… Oh, Oh, Ohhh…
We were both twelve when I first saw you.
I hoped you liked it! I love Taylor Swift and Percabeth! I know this has been done before, but I don't think it's been enough incorporated into Percy and Annabeth's characters. I didn't use "Scarlet Letter" because that's usually for old Puritan villages, and I think "Athena's daughter" says enough because Poseidon and Athena's kids aren't supposed to be together in the first place. I also said "she's trying to tell me what to feel" and by "she" I mean Athena. I'm sorry it didn't really rhyme; it was hard to find the right words. I know this isn't in the story, and they were only fourteen, but I still felt that Battle of the Labyrinth was a good time to set this. Review, even if you hate it!
